MAKING TASK
SAT 1. Part 2.
Developmental Folio

Once you have formulated and completed your Exploration Proposal

for SAT 1, you are now ready to do just thatexplore!
You are to create, examine and investigate the ideas, concepts and
techniques previously stated as you produce and create potential
directions that will guide and lead you to produce a folio of works
for Unit 4.
Within your A2 sized visual diary, you are to explore, trial and play
with the various materials and techniques as cited in SAC 1. You
may like to produce mini-artworks along with material and technical
artistic tests.
Throughout the folio, you should show a clear progression and
development of your ideas and processes consistently stating your
methods, what techniques did and did not work and where they
have lead you.
You MUST ENSURE YOU INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING WITHIN
YOUR DEVELOPMENTAL FOLIO:
Art explorations:

Numerous ways of responding to your sources of inspiration

and ideas as stated in your exploration proposal.

Evidence of an exploration of different art-making materials

and mediums to develop and progress your ideas

A development and refinement of techniques that assist to
communicate your idea

Annotation:
You must consistently use appropriate annotation throughout your
folio, accompanying your trials, works and potential directions. This
must include:

Constant reflections, annotation and evaluation of the

successes/failures of your trials and explorations

Annotation and clarification of a range of potential of your

ideas and working processes

There must be an appropriate use of art language and
terminology (elements and principles, rule of thirds, choice of

composition etc.)
Any artwork or reference material used or appropriated
throughout the design process and used to complete your SAT
2 must have its original source correctly referenced

Organisation:
Throughout your folio, you must correctly develop and implement a
successful method of organising the development of your artworks.
Potential Directions:
At the conclusion of Unit 3, you are sum up and review your artmaking practice. You are to personally assess and acknowledge the
successful techniques, processes and methods you would like to use
to work on and create your finished works within Unit 4.

This requires you to select at least 10 potential directions and

comment as to why you would like to use these selected
medium/material technique in your future art-making. You will
make your selection based on the explorations that most effectively
and successfully communicated your concepts, ideas and
aesthetics documented in the exploration proposal (Victorian
Curriculum and Assessment Authority, 2015, p. 21). These potential
directions must be listed and referred to within a 500 word essay as
you debrief and reflect on what you have gained, learned and
discovered by completing this exploration folio.
