Skill-Gap Analysis Company Analysis Established in 1954 by an Inter-local Cooperative Agreement between the City and County, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Planning Department is a joint City-County agency providing planning services for the City of Charlotte and the unincorporated areas of Mecklenburg County; an area covering over 300 square miles and serving over 800,000 residents. The Department works with a 14-member appointed Planning Commission and serves as a departmental resource for City and County government. Their mission is to provide integrated planning services that promote sustainable growth to improve the quality of life for the citizens they serve. An issue the department will have to deal with going forward is developing and implementing land use plans for transit stations, such as those along the new LYNX Blue line extension. Their offices are located at the CharlotteMecklenburg Government Center, 600 E. Fourth St.
