Ignored Victims
Although fish constitute the greatest
category of exploited animals and
arguably suffer the worst abuses, they
receive the least legal protection or
concern, even from the animal
protection community.
How You Can Help
Replace fish and fish oil (and all
animal products) with vegan
alternatives.
Learn more about the plight of fish
and inform others.
Advocate for fish by contacting
newspapers, magazines and call-in
talk shows, and by commenting on-
line, explaining that fish feel and can
suffer.
Oppose fishing contests and youth
fishing programs. Suggest humane
alternatives.
Urge other animal protection
organizations to increase their
Help Us Help the Most
Fish Feel is the sole organization
working exclusively to promote the
recognition of fish as sentient beings
deserving of respect and protection.
Fish Feel serves to help educate the
public as to why these animals are
deserving of our appreciation, the
immense problems caused by their
exploitation, and how we can help
them. We are a new organization
and need your help to be able to be
effective.

Individual Animals
While an astronomical number of land-
based farmed animals are killed to
supply people with food, the number of
aquatic animals killed for food is truly
stupefying. Some 8 billion land-based
farmed animals are killed annually in
the U.S. for food. A conservatively
eslimaied 60 billion fish are killed for
that same purpose each year.
Additionally, an estimated 40 billion
shellfish are killed annually to supply
U.S. consumers.
This does not include the countless
birds, dolphins, non-targeted fish,
turtles and other animals who are
inadvertently killed, or the hundreds of
millions of saltwater fish and untold

Fishing & Aquaculture
Wild fish are caught by being impaled,
netted or snared, often sutfering for
decompression, ruptured organs, or
from being crushed. Survivors are
commonly gutted, deboned, or frozen
while still conscious. Immense nets are
used to trawl the sea floor, catching
indiscriminately while destroying
habitat.
Nearly half of the fish consumed in the
U.S. are raised in captivity.
Aquacultured fish are intensively
confined and cruelly killed. Disease
and parasites are common.
