Curriculum content description:


Students design, adapt, use and presents information that is appropriate to
achieving solutions to technology challenges. LEVEL 4- The student considers the
need of a particular audience when selecting and using appropriate techniques,
resources and equipment to create information products using, for example, sound,
images and text (Outcomes and standard Framework 1998, Technology and
Enterprise).

Students prior knowledge and experience:


-Students know how to open and create a new blank Power Point document
-Students also know how to use windows 7

Learning purpose:
- To be able to edit and improve presentations using Microsoft Power Point software
- To know where and how to create different effects on Power Point to make their
presentation more appealing

Learning objectives:
On completion of this lesson,
students will be able to:
-Students will be able to edit and improve
their Power Point presentations to make
them more appealing.
-Students will be able to apply themes to
their presentations
-Add bullet points to their presentation
-They will be able to create new slides with
the appropriate layout
-They will be able to insert and reposition
images to fit the slides in 3 different ways
-Students will be able to insert charts
-As well as balancing the content and
graphics to ensure the slide is easy to read
and appealing
-Edit spelling and Grammar in theirs and
other peoples work

Evaluation:
The students ability to carry out this task is
marked competent or not yet competent.
They are given a marking key to follow and
their work is saved in a completed work file
which is submitted for marking.

-Choose transitions and animations to add to


their slides
-They will be able to reduce the file size of
presentation

Preparation and Resources:


For this task they will need:
-Their marking key
-Computer
-Microsoft Power Point software
Pre made power Point for them to edit and improve (Located in Get work > IT8 folder >
Challenge 7)

Catering for diversity

(detail any adjustments considerations for

educational/resource adjustments)
-Any students with special needs has an assistant teacher to help with the task
-I will be available for any students that need one on one time to follow the steps or for the
students that have further questions.

Open planets of the solar system power point from
the folder Get Work> Click IT8 folder>Challenge
7.
Edit and improve the presentation.
Apply a theme
Click design up the top
Choose design along the top
Create new slides with appropriate layouts
Press enter
Highlight all
Add extra slides for extra info- click on the
slide that you want to add an extra slide to
and click insert slide up the top
Use bullet points
Press bullet points icon up the top in Home
Slides with lots of information needs to be
broken up to have 3-4 bullet points on each
slide
Insert and reposition images (3x ways)
Insert > Picture > (images saved) click on
images and reposition it to fit the page
Insert > clip art > search
Find an image online (copy and paste
directly)
Insert charts
Go into excel
Copy and paste from challenge 6
Ensure you have completed challenge 6 first
to be able to complete this task
Balance of content and graphics
Add extra slides for extra info- click on the
