Hello, our names are Ching Pan and Paul Nauleau and we are freshman here at SCU. We are
conducting some research and we would like to invite you to participate in our study. In our
research we are comparing the similarities and differences of the study methods and learning
styles of International students versus those of American students. Of course your participation
is voluntary, but is greatly appreciated.
The general purpose of our research is to study and analyze the similarities and
differences in study methods, habits, and styles between the International students,
semi-International students and American students. From this research we hope to
be able to find certain trends between the time spent in International schooling and
how different these students study and learn compared to American students.
We are hoping to retrieve our data by form of Interview or Survey and Two day time
Diaries. For the Time diary we would like for you to keep track of two various normal
days which would help us understand where you study, how you study, and how much
you study. We also would like to conduct Interviews after the completion of the Time
Diary for us to follow up on some questions and for you to explain elements of your
time diary. Of course your involvement is greatly appreciated and if you would prefer
to not conduct all of the study, any involvement would be greatly appreciated. Your
involvement would be a maximum of your time over two days for the diary and a short
interview.
There will not be any risks to your privacy as we will not be using any names or photos.
We will keep locations general without specifying enough information for anyone to
be able to track you to our study.
Your involvement would help us identify weather or not there are different study
methods for students from various backgrounds, and ultimately, if schooling could be
adapted in the future to better fit each individual students needs.
We also have consent forms to ask for your permission to be a part of our study. All paperwork
and information can be made available to you if desired.
Do you have any questions for us?
