Inquiry Essay Proposal
The Inquire question I decide to write my paper on is about How Music affects its
Audience. In todays society we are surrounded by people that listen to music none stop. There
are jobs that have been engulfed in listening, editing, producing, and incorporating music to
make their job profitable. Without knowing it people, including myself, have given it power over
parts of our lives; question number one. Students have convinced themselves that they cant
focus if they dont have music, children wont stop crying unless they here their best friend Dora
the Explorer sing them a song, and so on. Today we use music to exploit people into feeling sad,
happy, mad, or whatever they need to feel, in order to put them in giving mood towards whatever
product that is being sold; question number two.
Several people today do not decide to give the amount of money they do, to organizations
based on logic. The seller knows that if they do not produce a feeling that the customer wants
more of that they probably wont be around for much long. In doing so we are exploited through
our emotions. This brings me to the thought that we decide what are lives are to become, so why
do we point the finger at others for our inability to say no? Every task that complete is a task that
you, a friend, family member, or etc made a decision over. Music is just an instrument to form
beautiful harmonies that is pleasant to the ear, but we have a choice whether to let it affect our
lives.

Some would argue that music isnt something that can control our lives but something
that has been around forever, so what was musics origin of music; question number three. This
question will help my paper better explain why music today is more than just noise people listen
to and how it is something that a greater meaning to peoples lives than the definition it has
today. That is why many people listen to classics because of the true soul empowering harmony
it brings to the table vs. todays.
A couple of websites that helped me understand this material was Science Daily,
Scientific America, and Trumpet. All three have include a part of research that I found to help me
expound on the science and truth to help me answer these questions. Using these links I will be
inspired to look into other questions that will lead to me showing the stats and facts of how
Music today is affects its Audience. People all around us our testimonies, so my environment
will also be a resource.
