The Roma people, also known as gypsies, are an ethnic group that originated in Northern India over 1,000 years ago and have lived in Europe since then. They traditionally have a self-sufficient economy based on trades and services, and place high value on family and spending time together through dancing, singing, and other activities. Roma culture has historically been misunderstood and stigmatized by other European societies, who often viewed them negatively and as outsiders.
