Function.
The main steam piping system (system LBA) supplies steam from boiler to the turbine HP
cylinder (HPC).
I.2.
Description.
Steam is supplied from boiler to the turbine HPC stop valves via two lines LBA10 and
LBA20 260 mm nb. A motorized main steam isolating valve (MSIV) LBA10AA201,
LBA20AA201 is installed on each steam line.
For steam pressure equalization upon operation of safety valves, an interconnecting line
200 mm nb between the main steam lines downstream of the boiler is provided. To remove air from
the system during its filling, a vent line 20 mm nb with two isolating valves manual valve
LBA50AA570 and motorized valve LBA50AA250 is provided on the interconnecting line.
For steam pressure equalization, two interconnecting lines 100/150 mm and 200 mm nb
between the main steam lines upstream of MSIV and HP stop valve (SV) are provided.
To remove air from the system, vent lines 20 mm nb with two valves LBA10AA570
(manual), LBA10AA250 (motorized) and LBA20AA570 (manual), LBA20AA250 (motorized) are
provided on each main steam line.
To prevent pressure rising in the boiler, and for superheaters safeguarding, CCI electrohydraulic safety valves LBA11AA601, LBA12AA601, LBA13AA601, LBA21AA601,
LBA22AA601, LBA23AA601 are installed on each main steam line. Each safety valve is
controlled via a hydropanel supplied complete with the valve, on which solenoids-servovalves
distributing governing oil flow in accordance with electric signals from protection system are
located. Under normal operating conditions these valves are closed, voltage of 220 VDC is applied
to their electric solenoids, and pressurized oil is supplied to the valve closing cylinder. Solenoids
. .
. .
power supply is provided from a reliable source DC board. When steam pressure rises, a valve
open command is generated. Electric solenoid is deenergized, pressurized oil is supplied to the
valve opening cylinder, and discharged from the valve closing cylinder. Valve full opening time is 2
sec.
Valve hydraulic system is connected to discharge and drain headers of HP Bypass oil
station. To ensure constant oil pressure in the system, each hydropanel is equipped with
accumulator. The accumulator storage capacity is enough for three valve operations.
Hydropanel hydraulic scheme and description are given in the documents transferred by
CCI together with the safety valves.

Electric signals to hydropanel solenoids are wired directly to pressure switches installed in
the main steam pipelines interconnecting line LBA50BR001 downstream of the boiler and on the
boiler drum.
Two valves LBA11AA601, LBA21AA601 operate when pressure in the boiler drum rises
above 210.6 kgf/cm2, and group of four valves LBA12AA601, LBA13AA601, LBA22AA601,
LBA23AA601 operates upon pressure rise in main steam lines downstream of the boiler above
196.7 kgf/cm2.
The superheater safety valves have an inlet connection 150 mm nb and discharge to
atmosphere via pipelines 250/400 mm nb through silencers.
The safety valve vents are drained through hydraulic seals 5 m high via pipelines 25 mm
nb with collection in a common header 50 mm nb and discharge into boiler blowdown tank.
For steam lines before stop valves of the turbine HP cylinders (HPC SV) preheating and
pressure equalization when MSIV is opened during start-up, a MSIV bypass 150 mm nb is
provided, with motorized isolating valve LBA30AA201 and motorized control valve
LBA30AA001 installed on it.
On interconnecting line LBF10 200 mm nb, upstream of MSIV, a HP turbine bypass, i.e. a
quick-acting pressure reducing/desuperheating station (QAPRDS-I) is installed. On the same
interconnection, in parallel to QAPRDS-I, there is a connecting line LBG30 to the start-up pressure
reducing/desuperheating station (PRDS). (See HP/LP Bypass System P&I Diagram UBEX1M1&2-M-52-LBF-1353).
During start-up the main steam lines 65 mm nb are warmed by opening drain valves
LB10AA230
(motorized),
LB10AA501
(manual)
and
LB20AA230
(motorized),
LB20AA501 (manual). The drains are connected to the turbine HP flash tank drains header.
The pipeline sections downstream of MSIV are drained by lines 25 mm nb, with
motorized isolating valves LB10AA232 and LB20AA232 installed on them
On MSIV bypass upstream of gate valve LB30AA201 a drain line 25 mm nb without
. .
any stop valves is provided, which is connected to the drain line upstream of MSIV before isolating
valve LB20AA230.
On MSIV bypass downstream of control valve LB30AA001 a drain line 25 mm nb
without any stop valves is provided, which is connected to the drain line downstream of MSIV

heating the HPC stop valves. HPC SV heating steam is discharged to the unit HP flash tank drains
header.
For heating the pipeline dead ends upstream of the safety valves, crossover pipelines 25
mm nb without any stop valves are provided with collection in the common header 65 mm nb.
Heating is ensured by pressure differential between these pipelines terminal points.
I.3.
Process monitoring.
In the main steam pipelines interconnecting line downstream of the boiler there is pressure
measurement by pressure switches LBA50CP191, LBA50CP192, LBA50CP193. Signals from
these pressure switches serve for safety valve hydraulic drive solenoids control in the event of
steam pressure rise / drop, and are wired directly to the electric circuits of the safety valve
solenoids. For safety valves control two out of three voting logic is used. Safety valves open on
operation of any two pressure switches. They close on release of any two pressure switches.
On each main steam pipeline downstream of the boiler there is temperature measurement
LBA10CT001 and LBA20CT001 with information input to the ICMS (Integrated Control &
Monitoring System).
On each main steam pipeline LBA10 and LBA20 upstream of MSIV there is steam
temperature measurement LBA10CT007 and LBA20CT007, steam pressure measurement
LBA10CP007
and
LBA20CP007
and

To measure the main steam flow to the turbine, orifice plates LBA10CF005QB01 and
LBA20CF005QB01, double differential pressure transmitters LBA10CF005, LBA10CF006 and
LBA20CF005,

pressure

LBA10CP005,
LBA20CP005
and
thermocouples LBA10CT005, LBA20CT005 on each steam line LBA10 and LBA20 are provided,
with information input to ICMS. Flow signals are used for boiler feeding closed loop control.
Signals from the pressure transmitters and thermocouples are used in the ICMS for main steam
flow measurement correction. The pressure signal is taken from orifice plate + chamber, steam
thermocouples are installed downstream of orifice plate.

Control valve LBA30AA001 on the MSIV bypass is controlled by the ICMS and is part of the
interlocking and functional-group control process algorithms.
Valve LBA30AA001 is automatically closed upon any of the MSIVs LBA10AA201,
LBA20AA201 opening.
Control valve LBA30AA001 can be remotely opened, closed or stopped in an intermediate position
at all times, if this is not prohibited by interlocking signals.
