1) The author conducted action research on 8th standard students to improve their report writing skills.
2) An initial test revealed students wrote reports in the present tense, concluded reports personally, and had errors in sequencing.
3) The author hypothesized that presenting a report writing format, explaining how to organize and sequence reports, and reviewing newspaper reports would help students.
4) Remedial teaching involved explaining the report writing format, features of reports, and inspiring classroom discussion. A post-test showed students wrote better reports but still had errors.

ACTION RESEARCH REPORT by Shanti
During our off campus i conducted action research on
students of standard 8th (c).. in Shri K.B.Joshi Kanya vidhyalaya school.Porbandar.. I found that they were not competent in report writing.. 1) Problem:-The problem is identified through a test. The students were asked to write a report on the celebration of the Republic Day. Through this test many errors appeared such as1)They wrote report in present tense. 2) They conclude it personally. 3) Many errors in sequencing the report. 2) Cause of problem:- Some causes are found by observing their behavior and by analyzing their pre-test papers. 1) Lack of interest in learning new things. 2) Inappropriateness in applying grammatical rules. 3) Lack of educational atmosphere.4)Inadequate way of discussion in teaching 3) Hypothesis :-If I helped them by presenting the format of report writing and by explaining the way of organizing and sequencing the report writing, it would be helpful for them. If I presented some newspapers reports, they would get an idea about report writing. 4) Remedial teaching:1st Day-I gave them a format of report writing. I explained them that a report is always written in past tense. We could not present our personal opinion regarding the conclusion. A report should always brief in content. 2nd Day-We discussed about the format next day. I asked them about the essential features of a report writing. I inspired students to be more interactive in the classroom discussion.
5) Evaluation:- I used the technique of test. I undertook their post test.
They wrote report again on Teachers day celebration. This time, they wrote somewhat well, though they made lots of errors. I organized this action research with an objective to find out their proficiency.
