Nursing Process Implementation.

Significant Learning Experience:

Describe ONE significant learning
experience in this course related to a
CLPNA competency. Provide an example.

What You Learned:

Describe what you learned and how it
relates to a competency. Explain why it
was meaningful.

Proficiency Rating:
Use the Proficiency Categories below to
rate your proficiency in the chosen CLPNA
competency. What did you do to achieve
this competency?

Competency Number: B3, B-3-2

Demonstrate the knowledge and ability to
carry out interventions of the nursing care
plan.
In NFDN 1002 lab and theory I was taught
how to properly administer medications.
With the knowledge of the 10 rights of
administering medications and learning
how to check the MAR against the doctors
orders, following the three checks through
the process, I was able to understand the
competency expected of my as future LPN.
I successfully learned the 10 rights of
medication. This directly related to being a
competent LPN through demonstrating
drug knowledge, and administration,
teaching, implementation, and overall
understanding of the seriousness and
importance that medication plays in
healthcare. In addition to the 10 rights, I
was taught how to check our clients MAR
against their doctors orders and then doing
three medication checks. This is imperative
to my role as a competent future LPN as it
ensures client safety and strives to return
our client back to health and keep them in
wellness. I found it meaningful to know
that I am learning this triple check because
I know if I, or someone I love, were in
need of medical care that the LPN would
be leaving little, to no, room for errors.
Having been able to learn about and
practice medication administration for
about a month now, I currently rate myself
as good. Along with my class readings,
class powerpoints and discussion and
explanation on what is expected of me
becoming an LPN, I am able to understand
the competency in theory. With practice,
demonstrations, going step-by-step and
thinking as a group through scenarios, Im
quickly becoming able to grasp this
nursing practice. I really attribute this to
the repetition of the process and being able
to put it all together as theory and lab came
together.

Nursing Practice:
Describe how you will apply this learning
in your current and future nursing practice?

I know that after my practice in this course

I will feel confident in performing proper
medication administration. This will ease
my transition from my labs to clinical to
becoming a working LPN. I will always
ensure to check the MAR against the
doctors orders and to do my three checks,
in all administrations of various types of
medications. Bringing with me my
knowledge from NFDN 1002 class and lab
I will assess my client through all stages of
medication administration, review their
individual plan of care and modify it with
my fellow healthcare professionals if
needed. Following special instructions and
means of every drug administration, I can
use my skills and knowledge to be
prepared, client and family teach,
anticipate and intervene to prevent
complications and always document
properly, as demonstrated from my many
instructors.
