Stephen Kovarik is an 11th grade

student at Hackettstown High
School. He was born in Hackettstown and has stayed there his
whole life. In the future he hopes
to become an Officer in the United States NAVY and after the
service he hopes to get an engineering job.

Naval ROTC is the

right option for me!
The Naval ROTC program
through a four year college is the
best option for me. With NROTC I
have the best of both worlds. I can
have a normal college life, and experience military officer training at
the same time. The benefits of
ROTC over the academies is that
your schedule isnt as regimented
and rigorous. ROTC consists of
workouts and a few specific classes during the semesters. The real
fun and training begins in the summer between semesters with your
class summer cruise. With the
ROTC program I will learn the
qualities and skills needed to become an effective officer in the
military along with receiving a
very good education. With the
right ROTC scholarship my education cost will be completely
paid for. I will have a paying job
as an officer in the NAVY right
out of college, no college debt,
and skills necessary for a career
after the military if I choose to
leave after my five year contract
is up.

What are the Requirements?

Naval Aviator
$840 a month; increases as you
spend more time in the NAVY
Must have four year bachelors
degree to be a candidate
Lots of advanced Aviation training
Surface Warfare Officer
You must have a High School Diploma

You must be in the top 10% of your class
Have no moral obligations or personal convictions that prevent conscientious of bearing
arms and supporting and defending the Constitution of the United States against all enemies,
foreign and domestic
Be physically qualified by Navy standards
Minimum SAT scores of 520 critical reading
and 520 Math
So far I meet all the requirements in order to get a
scholarship in the Navy ROTC program.

It is a very physically
demanding program
ROTC is very time

consuming and you will
constantly be busy
It is a 5-year commitment to the military after college
Its hard to get into the

program and easy to get
kicked out
I am preparing physically by constantly going to

the gym and I will be
mentally prepared for the
time in the NAVY by being fully committed.
