Week 1 Vocab

Geosphere - Any of the almost spherical concentric regions of matter that make up
the earth and its atmosphere, as the lithosphere and hydrosphere.
Hydrosphere - All the waters on the earth's surface, such as lakes and seas, and
sometimes including water over the earth's surface, such as clouds.
Atmosphere - An atmosphere is a layer of gases surrounding a planet or other material
body of sufficient mass that is held in place by the gravity of the body.
Winds - the perceptible natural movement of the air, especially in the form of a
current of air blowing from a particular direction.
Clouds - a visible mass of condensed water vapor floating in the atmosphere, typically
high above the ground.
Weather - the state of the atmosphere at a place and time as regards heat, dryness,
sunshine, wind, rain, etc.
Climate - the weather conditions prevailing in an area in general or over a long period.
Biosphere - The biosphere is the global sum of all ecosystems. It is the global
ecological system integrating all living beings and their relationships, including their
interaction with the elements of the lithosphere, hydrosphere, and atmosphere.
