Dear parents and caregivers

With Mr McLeay away at a conference this week, Isabella, Georgia, and Harvey are writing
this blurb instead, on behalf of the Student Council.

Last year, the Student Council raised money for the data projector in Room 10. This year, we
are raising money for sandpit toys for the new sandpit that will go in by the re-located
Adventure Playground.

On Thursday 8 May, we had a special day called the Stripes and Spots Day where we raised
money for Cystic Fibrosis. Cystic Fibrosis is a disease where mucus builds up and you need to
get it drained out. Every time a person with Cystic Fibrosis gets sick, they have to go to
hospital and stay in there for quite a long time until they are fully better. We raised $324.60 for
the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Remember that the School Cross Country is coming soon on Tuesday 10 June!!! Don't forget
to order the pre-paid sausages for your children. One sausage is only $2.00, so buy as many
as you like! The pre-paid sausages order form has to be in by Friday 6 June so hurry or you
might miss out! Also, remember to encourage your children to keep training. Of course, not
just the children could train; you could get out and run with them, too.

Next term, on Tuesday 5 August, we are going to have a Toy Trading Table Day so, if your
children want a different toy, they can bring a toy that they dont want and bring a dollar so
that they can trade toys! If they want more than one toy, they bring two toys and two
dollars. Children can trade books as well, but they cant trade books for toys, just books for
books.

All of us on the Student Council are really enjoying our new classrooms. They are very warm
on these cold mornings; we love our new furniture, too. It doesnt confine us to working at a
desk all day, but we can work on beanbags, at high tables, and different places over the
day, depending on what we are doing, who we are working with, and what our preferences
are.

Parent Contribution: Each year, families are
requested to make a contribution to the school to
supplement the funding provided by the Government. As
a higher decile school (decile 8) we receive
considerably less funding than lower decile schools and,
in order to cover the difference, we rely on
contributions from families.
The donations for 2014 are:
One child at Riverview School: $160
Two children at Riverview School: $300
Three or more children at
Riverview School: $450
The Board would be delighted to receive donations
greater than this from families who can do so. Many
high decile schools in large centres ask for two or even
three times this amount, so please consider this if you
are able. All donations are tax deductible and a
receipt for this purpose will be issued. Some families
have already paid this donation for 2014. THANK YOU.
