to identify adjacent, vertical, complementary, and supplementary angles, the students will engage in a hands-on activity that demonstrates what a mixture is. Content Standards: CA. 8. G. 12.0- Students find and use measures of sides and of interior and exterior angles of triangles and polygons to classify figures and solve problems. CA. 8. G. 13.0- Students prove relationships between angles in polygons by using properties of complementary, supplementary, vertical, and exterior angles. Vocabulary: supplementary angles, complementary angles, vertical angles, adjacent angles, reflex angles, acute angles, obtuse angles, right angles, vertex, rays, angles, degrees, protractor, straight angles Materials: Projector, Computer, Prepared Handouts, Whiteboard, Markers, student protractors, Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland, A Math Adventure book, and PowerPoint Presentation on Angle Relationships Into: The teacher will introduce the lesson through a read-aloud of the book Sir Cumference and the Great Knight of Angleland, A Math Adventure as a review of previous concepts learned about angles. Through: The teacher will then give a PowerPoint presentation on the various angle relationships and how they are classified. The students will listen and take notes throughout the presentation. The teacher will ask questions of the students during the PowerPoint, to ensure learning and clarify any misconceptions. Beyond: The students will be distributed into groups and given handouts to complete together. The students will follow the directions on the handouts that require answers to questions that identify particular angles. The teacher will circulate the classroom to ensure student learning and clarify any misunderstandings about the handouts. At the conclusion, the students will be given a summative assessment sheet that will be used as an exit ticket and checked by the teacher to evaluate and return the next day. Assessment: The teacher will assess student learning through the collection of the assessment sheet. An extension activity will also be given for further practice that requires the student to create a drawing of a house and labels the drawing with the angle relationships that were presented in the lesson. In order to receive full credit on the collected assignment, the student will need to accurately identify the differences between the angle relationships.
