The passenger compartment control unit replaces the passenger compartment connection unit. This control unit brings together a large number of the small computers and relays into one single unit. This unit is located in the dashboard, on the drivers side on the fuse mounting.
1. UCH Part number: 77 03 297 929 controls: the direction indicators and hazard warning lights, the windscreen and rear screen wipers and washers, the engine immobiliser, the heated rear screen and rear view mirrors (depending on equipment), the drivers electric window, the locking and unlocking of opening elements, the courtesy lights, the tell tale light for the opening elements. 2. UCH Part number : 77 03 297 930 also controls the following in addition to those controlled by the previous version: the heated electric windscreen, the headlight washers. As a replacement part, only part number 77 03 297 930 is available.
IMPORTANT: when replacing the UCH, the func-
tions corresponding to the vehicles equipment level will have to be configured using the XR25,
NXR or OPTIMA. IMPORTANT: it will not be possible to start the ve-
15454S
hicle until the engine immobiliser programming procedure has been carried out.
The XR25, NXR or OPTIMA can be used to carry out fault finding on the unit (fault finding fiche n 64). In production, there are two UCH models which can be fitted to vehicles, depending on their equipment level. They can be identified by their part numbers which can be read on the unit or by a fault finding tool (XR25, NXR or OPTIMA).

87
Changing the configuration Using the XR25 (fiche n 64): Enter code D45. 1. Enter command mode G followed by the configuration number for the desired function (see the table below) then enter * followed by 1 to configure or by 0 to deconfigure (depending on vehicle equipment) and validate using key *.
When changing a UCH, it is necessary to carry out programming and configuration corresponding to the vehicles equipment level.
Programming: of the engine immobiliser, of the remote controls for the doors (resynchronisation if necessary).
Configuration of : the engine (petrol or direct injection diesel or diesel with coded solenoid valve), the engine immobiliser function, courtesy light timing, over-speed warning (Arabia), cabriolet (E64), automatic door locking authorisation, radio frequency remote control function.
NOTE:
Special notes on engine configuration mode - G25*1* = - G25*2* = petrol or direct injection diesel, diesel (except direct injection).
Configurable functions Engine (see special notes above) Engine immobiliser function Courtesy light timing Over- speed warning (Arabia) Cabriolet Automatic door locking Radio frequency remote control function
Configura tion n 25 44 47 57 55 50 59
For programming the: Engine immobiliser, see the Technical Note on the coded key engine immobiliser, Remote control for the doors , see section 88 in this note (resynchronisation).
Checking the configuration The configured functions can be seen (except automatic door locking) using tools: XR25 (fiche n 64, bargraphs 18, 19 and 20 side 2/2), NXR or OPTIMA (status menu, lines 38 to 40).
Check the acceptance of the configuration using the bargraphs on fiche n 64 side 2/2 (except automatic door locking) and the correct operation of the configured function. When everything is correct, enter command mode G60* to lock programming in order to obtain normal operation of the functions controlled by the UCH. Bargraph 17 RH side should illuminate.
NOTE: for configurations connected to the engine
immobiliser function, see the "Coded key engine immobiliser" Technical Note and for resynchronisation of the remote control (if necessary) see section 88 in this note.

1. 2. 3.
Choose the "Fault finding" menu. Select and validate the vehicle type (Mgane). Select and validate the system on which fault finding is to be carried out (connection unit). Choose the "Command" menu. Select and validate the "Computer configuration" function and validate the lines for the configuration to be carried out depending on the vehicles equipment.
Remove: - the fuse box cover, - part (A) by removing its two bolts, - mounting bolt (B) from the UCH fuse support.
4. 5.
Check the acceptance of the configuration using lines 38 to 40 on the "Status" menu (except automatic door locking) and the correct operation of the configured function. When everything is correct, lock the programming by selecting and validating line 60 in order to obtain normal operation of the functions managed by the UCH.
NOTE: for configurations linked to the engine immobiliser function, see the "Coded key engine immobiliser" Technical Note and for resynchronisation of the remote control (if necessary) see section 88 of this note.

Vehicles with the passenger compartment control unit (UCH) can be equipped with door locking remote controls (PLIPs) with a rolling code. When replacing or adding a remote control (PLIP), it will be necessary to carry out a key reallocation procedure and if necessary a resynchronisation procedure in order for the PLIP to be in line with the UCH. This remote control is only used for locking and unlocking the opening elements (it has no effect on the engine immobiliser).
In the event that a key is added or lost, you will need to order an insert using the number of the key. Only keys presented during this operation will be functional, on condition that: - they have already been coded for this vehicle, - they are new (uncoded).
Special notes on this new system This system can function with a maximum of four remote controls (the UCH can only manage four different rolling codes). The radio frequency signal receiver is integrated in the UCH.
1.
Check that the UCH is correctly coded. Bargraph 16 RH side should be extinguished.
IMPORTANT: the maximum time period bet-
ween carrying out each operation is three minutes, otherwise the procedure is cancelled (returns to the original configuration). 2. With the ignition switched off, enter the secret after sales code (eight figures) as indicated below: - enter G41*, "?" is shown on the display, - enter the first three figures and validate with *, "?" is shown on the display, - enter the next two figures and validate with *, "?" is shown on the display, - enter the last three figures and validate with *, "LEC" is shown on the display, - the code appears on the display in three sequences, then "?" is shown on the display : If the code shown on the display is correct, validate with *, Pro and bon are shown on the display, bargraph 17 left hand side illuminates (the engine immobiliser tell-tale light extinguishes). If the code shown on the display is not correct, enter "G" and restart the procedure for entering the code.
The central door locking button is inhibited when the doors are locked using the remote control. Door locking using the remote control is indicated by two flashes of the hazard warning lights (if all the doors are correctly closed). If one or more doors are incorrectly closed, the hazard warning lights remain extinguished when locking using the remote control. Unlocking of the doors is indicated by one flash of the hazard warning lights. If the doors are unlocked, but none of them are opened within the following 30 seconds, the system automatically relocks the opening elements of the vehicle (the hazard warning lights will not flash).
