. I grew up in Howland, and, now, my wife and I are raising our two sons here. I ran for trustee because I wanted to be a part of shaping my community for us and our children. We have a wonderful community where people want to live. Perhaps that is why, unlike other areas, our population grew by almost 10% in the last decade. We need to sustain that momentum by making sure that we provide high quality public services that you expect, all in an efficient and professional manner, and supplement that with the extras that enhance our quality of life, from the Farmers Market to the Community Gardens, and TAG to limb-and-branch pickup. The Township offers its residents an array of services that collectively make this a great place to live. And we are always looking for new ways to improve by being openminded and not afraid to take a chance. I am running for re-election because I am proud of where we are and how I have played a role in getting us here. I would like to continue working with a great team that accomplishes much without the fanfare or publicity, all while smartly and diligently managing our limited resources. Howland is continually recognized as the best-run township in the county. It is because of our track-record, our professionalism, and our willingness to come to the table for opportunities that have opened up for us. Four years ago, I didnt make promises that I couldnt keep. I instead laid out a vision for the Township, the genesis of which can be found in our comprehensive plan. It isnt flashy, but it is necessary. I promised to bring a fresh approach to this office. I believe that I have done that. As a professional with a young family and a vested interest in the community, I view my responsibilities from a perspective that focuses on what is best for Howland in the long run. I am asking for your vote because I care about this community. I followed in the steps of a legend, Dick Orwig. I am honored that his family supports me in my re-election bid. During our successful bicentennial activities, I worked with his daughter and other members of the Historical Society to cement a partnership between them and the Township that will hopefully preserve our communitys history for future generations. We must also be focused on laying the groundwork to grow our economy. As an established township, Howland has, for the most part, been built up; that means that we need to encourage reinvestment and infill development, particularly in our industrial areas. We are partners with Warren and the Port Authority in a $600,000 brownfields assessment grant that is the first step towards redeveloping the Golden Triangle, an economic engine. This also means creatively using the areas that we have already designated for commercial and industrial activities; it does not mean turning residential spaces into strip malls. The question in this election is who you trust to provide you with the services that you have come to expect from the Township. By re-electing me, you know what to expect. Changing course is not in our best interests. Instead, we need my experience and leadership. So, I humbly ask for your vote on November 5. I believe that I have worked hard to earn your trust and your support. I hope that you agree.
