Social Studies

In Social studies we have been basing our learning around families. With this we have discussed many items such as diversity (foods, homes, traditions, celebrations etc.) we have also spent some time discussing needs and wants. In the upcoming weeks (sometime after report cards) we will be doing some work around relating recent to past events of student family life and kinship of past and present according to traditional teachings etc. (More information about what this will look like is to come). There will be many fun activities involved with this and also activities that will require your participation at home. Thanks in advance for helping your child to expand their understanding of this topic!

Health
In health we have spent time discussing different kinds of safety (home, school, street, Halloween etc). Next we will be focusing our attention on the importance of the brain, heart and lungs and examine behaviors that keep these organs healthy! (USC1.2)

Physical Education
We have continued to discuss the importance of being physically active and safety skills when in the gym.

Science In Science we are just wrapping up our first unit on Daily and Seasonal Changes! I am really impressed with what the students have learned and discovered! Over the next week we will be doing some review with these concepts and then we will be starting a brand new unit on the 5 Senses! SE1.1: Investigate characteristics of the five traditional external senses (sight, sound, smell, touch and taste) in humans and animals. SE1.2: Explore how humans and animals use their senses to interact with their environment.

We have completed our exploration in locomotor skills and will work towards learning about non-locomotor and manipulative skills

Religion In religion we have begun to look at and discuss Jesus and biblical stories about him.
