M'Lady's Rosy Cloche

I'm sneaking out of the Pumpkin Patch just long enough to show you a few new items I listed yesterday in my Etsy Shop ~ Front Porch Knits. They are my absolute favorite ladies hats in the world! I love the pure luxury of 100% Baby Alpaca. Nothing beats the sumptuous softness. And  crocheted shells always lend that light, lacy air of femininity. Then, of course, the real Ooh~La~La factor for me is the ROSE!  { I have a confession to make ~ I so much prefer ROSES to pumpkins...shhh.... don't tell that to anyone in this town right now... I may get tarred & feathered!}

These fit close to the head and give a bit of a vintage~flapper girl look when worn. The rose goes to one side. They are very charming and actually quite warm. Though they are somewhat lacy and airy due to the sheer nature of the crochet, the Alpaca is very insulating. Quite soft and snuggly!

For a better peek at them  go to frontporchknits.etsy.com

Well, I really must say TTFN {Ta~Ta~For~Now!} and get myself back to the pumpkin patch.
Want a sneak peek of today's pumpkin finery?

It's patiently waiting for me to grow it into a Pumpkin Pincushion.
More on that in the next day or two!

Until we meet again!

Rosy Cloche

I don't know about anyone else but I think flapper girl looking stuff is fun! I crocheted this hat using 100% Baby Alpaca and added the crocheted rose and some crocheted spirals and when I placed it on my head I thought, "Ooh... Flapper!" Now this is not necessarily the best look for me and I did not make this hat for myself. It was made for a customer. But  I couldn't resist snapping a quick photo before it went bye~bye. It was too fun to make! I love the spirals dangling down. They added the right amount of SASS!  The pattern was taken from The Chicks with Sticks Guide to Crochet. I have made too many of these to count in various colors of alpaca. They are popular sellers and they make great gifts. I always doll them up with some sort of flower with or without the spirals, depending on what mood strikes me. They are quick and fun so give them a try!

I Must Crochet!

When I blogged the other day about the rose colored silk shawl I have started crocheting to wear to my daughter Hilary's wedding this coming April I was having camera issues. Those have since been resolved and I now have a picture of my simple beginning to share with anyone who might care for a glimpse. Today's post will be short & sweet because, well.... I must crochet!
*I discovered there are a couple of errors in this pattern as well as a few others in this beautiful book {Crochet So Fine by Kristen Omdahl} but the corrections can be found in errata online.

Silk Shawl

This is my first post and I am sorry that I am having camera issues and am therefore unable to post a picture of the shawl I am currently crocheting for myself to wear to my daughter Hilary's wedding coming up in April. I am using a gorgeous 100% mulberry silk in a beautiful shade of rose that simply glides through my fingers. Silk is my absolute favorite fiber to work with whenever I get the chance. I love the feel, the look, the drape and ~ yes ~ even that unmistakable fragrance! When my camera issue gets resolved I will show the beginning picture of this beautiful shawl. I just started it a few days ago. The pattern is from Kristin Omdahl's fabulous book "Crochet So Fine". Until then....Happy Hooking!
Oh ~ and have a nice cup of tea.
