Rose Trellis Scarf

I have crocheted a new scarf for my
Although its made of wool, alpaca and angora
it's very lacy and airy.
I think it's a good year round scarf,
depending on the climate someone lives in.
It's very
foo~foo
&
pink
&
rosy
&
downright
*GIRLIE*
Aaahhhhhhh.....
all of my favorite things :)
At 72 inches long there is enough length to wrap it anyway you like it.
There's just something so feminine about
soft pink
&
just barely
off white.
I love the slightly diagonal effect the weight of the roses give the shape.
And, of course, I adore the sheer splendour
of the
soft
sumptuous
ROSES
So ~
Even though this could be worn all Winter long,
because of the overall
delicate
feel of it,
I think it steps nicely into early
Spring.

I hope your days are filled with
sunshine
blue skies
&
ROSY
thoughts of
SPRING!

Miss Phoebe's Cottage Shawl

Yes~ I've wrapped up another Shawl.
I wanted to see this pattern crocheted in a solid color after doing it in a multicolor.
I really like both!
This avocado green is one of my favorite colors.
It seems to be a color that looks good on a lot of people.
And green is always so fresh and soothing to me.
I added a Rose pin in Ivory with a little Pearl in the center as a closure to this one.
I named it "Miss Phoebe's Cottage Shawl"
and listed it on my Etsy Shop
I do like the solid color.
I think I'll make more :)
It's really quite warm too!
Now my little granddaughter wants a "dark pink one" in her size.
Well..... OKAY!
Oh!
The name for the shawl?
Phoebe is one of my weenie dogs {tee~hee}.
I have another wrap I make that I call a
Sweet Sophie Shawl.
I don't have any of those in stock right now.
And you guessed it...
Sophie is my other weenie dog :)

Visions of Pumpkins...

As August prepares to give way to September, I am still busily creating as many pumpkin items as my fingers can possibly keep up with. My towns annual Pumpkin Festival begins in two weeks and I must have these goodies finished up and delivered to the gift shop downtown that's awaiting them. Customers start asking about my pumpkins by mid Spring {Are you kidding me? All I can think of at that point is ~ SUMMER... it's almost here... FINALLY!}

I did get some tags on some pumpkin hats last Saturday and dropped them off  at the shop so there would be a few there for some of those eager beavers!  My stack continues to grow here at home but I don't want to deliver anymore because I have ordered new business cards that should be here in the next day or two. After all, I must torture myself by having my name and number on every one of them so I get more outside orders for these silly pumpkin hats, which literally haunt my dreams at night this time of  year. Seriously ~ I go to sleep thinking about them, knit them in my dreams and wake up knowing they are the destiny of my darn day! Sometimes it's like this through October. {Did I mention before that pumkins don't do it for me in a big way and that orange has never been my favorite color?} I do have to smile and be thankful however. They are a big money maker. Last year my dear husband was having 60% of his pancreas removed during the Pumpkin Festival week {he had pancreatic cancer} and I spent 6 days and nights in the hospital with him. I took all my supplies to keep whipping these hats out thinking I'd bring a fresh stack to the shop. I didn't make it home with a single hat. The nurses snapped them up with more excitement than a bunch of fat kids in a candy store! Never saw anything like it in my life.

Anyway, this year I decided to give myself, and those pumpkin enthusiasts I am surrounded by, a bit of variety. I have been knitting up these sweet little pumpkin pincushions. Well, the pattern refers to them as pincushions and they are great for that. They are especially nice for a blunt yarn needle. But they make really cute table decorations as well. Even I really like them :)  Of course, you'll notice I have to sneak white pumpkins in the mix for my own viewing pleasure!

So~ if I disappear again for a few days at a time, you'll know I'm wandering around in the pumpkin patch {trying not to come unraveled!}

Knitted Knockers

A few years ago I saw an advertisement in the back of a knitting magazine for these knitted breasts. I was very intrigued but couldn't figure out where to get a pattern for them. Then finally one day last summer I walked into my LYS and there one sat all made up. I was so excited! I said, "I HAVE to have the pattern, where is it?!" Well, don't you know they were giving them out for free to anyone who will make some of these little beauties for the American Cancer Society.
So I grabbed that pattern in my hot little hand, bought some various yarns for the project {plus used some from my unending stash!} and before long I was in the boob business around here. I mean it got to where I had to be careful because without thinking I was asking everyone who came to the house if they wanted to see my...well...you know...! Then I'd have to explain myself in a hurry and show them what I was working on and tell them about the whole project. And of course I did have quite a bit of fun showing them off to my knit night girls! Even Hubby got a kick out of all of our carrying on that night. Anyway, back to business here.  They are even pretty from the back side. They are knit in the round on dpn's and are actually rather soothing to work on. You choose whatever cup size you want and they really don't take much time to make. And I think they are even pretty from the back side. I like the way they dip in at the center, making them concave so they stay in place better when slipped inside a bra. I think the whole thing is ingenious!

And I love knowing they are going for a good cause. The whole story behind the pattern is definitely worth reading so please do look it up when you have time at The Knitting Experience. For those of you who are interested in making and donating some but are crocheters there is also the crocheted version of the pattern available.
Another good site to look up is Knitty Titty Committee where their goal is to help mastectomy patients obtain free or low cost knitted prostheses. The silicone ones are heavy and can cause sweating and irritation so these knitted or crocheted versions make nice alternatives. They say the ladies enjoy them when they are wild and funky so have fun with them! One of my knit night girls even put a tiny silver ring on hers to pierce the nipple. I mean ~ why not?!
