Dolly Parton is many things — music icon, actress, theme park mogul — and can now add cookbook author to the list. Good Lookin’ Cookin‘, released today, is already the best seller in the “Comfort Food Cooking” category on Amazon and number two on books overall.
Parton and her sister Rachel Parton George co-authored Good Lookin’ Cookin’. The recipes are arranged by month, with meals celebrating calendar events like Thanksgiving, Valentine’s Day, and New Year’s. Parton’s cookbook has shot up the book charts despite stiff competition, including from Stephen and Evie Colbert’s cookbook, which also dropped today. Good Lookin’ Cookin’ is published by Ten Speed Press, an imprint of Random House.
The Parton’s cookbook is heavy on country and comfort favorites like Country Ham and Biscuits, Barbecue Spare Ribs, and Family Favorite Meatloaf, and the book features over 80 recipes across 272 color pages. The book’s title is a reference to Hank Williams’ country classic “Hey, Good Lookin,” which Parton “sings to her sister Rachel Parton George whenever she walks into her kitchen.”
In an Instagram post from today announcing the cookbook, Dolly Parton wrote, “I love good cooking, but not as much as I love my sister Rachel. So, getting to combine the two was a joy beyond belief for me. We hope you have as much fun reading these stories as we did putting them together.”
If you’re wondering what to pair with each decadent meal, Parton has an answer for that too, as the “Jolene” singer just unveiled a new wine collection. A the moment, the Dolly wine collection comprises a chardonnay, with plans to add a rosé and prosecco as well.
And if you want to try the Parton’s meals but aren’t so keen on grocery shopping, the sisters partnered with Home Chef on a line of meal kits inspired by the recipes in the cookbook. Good Lookin’ Cookin’ is available from Amazon, Barnes & Noble, independent booksellers, and as a Target exclusive.
