Patriotic Wave

My favorite table runner pattern, Patriotic Wave

Patriotic Wave pattern by QuiltFabrication

is out on display for Memorial Day and on to July 4th.

What better way to celebrate the both holidays than with this beautiful red, white, and blue Patriotic Wave!

Measuring 20" x 62", it proudly displays the stars and stripes of the USA! Designed by me, the pattern is available at Etsy, with additional instructions for a 14" x 42" size.

Made with a strip set, and a very gentle curve, this runner was a snap to put together. Applique stars finish off the patriotic look. The quilting is a more open McTavishing in the blue background, straight stitching in the stripes, and double echoing in the stars.

So happy to see this awesome red, white, and blue Patriotic Wave - time to celebrate!

Happy Quilting!

United Runner

Welcome to my day of the Be A Diamond Blog Hop, hosted by Carol of
Just Let Me Quilt. May I introduce my United table runner!

United table runner by QuiltFabrication

This table runner received the name United, because lately, I feel we all need to set aside our own agendas and come together as one for the good of all. And of course, it helps United was done in patriotic colors, though any other color scheme would look just as fantastic!

Ready for some closeups? Here goes!

Just look at the awesome fill - I'm calling it Dragon Fruit because of the spikes. There's now a tutorial/video on how to quilt this - check out the Dragon Fruit Quilt Fill. And yes, it can be done on a domestic machine too.

Here's a closer view:

such yummy texture! Notice that the red/white/blue lines are stitched in the ditch - I wanted them to have a different dimension than the dense fill.

And one more pic, showing the patriotic backing fabric on this 15.5" x 41" runner - the perfect fit!

Oh - did I mention how easy the United runner is to put together? A couple strip sets plus a very easy, creative way to cut the background triangles make this a project that can be done in a day. I know I'll be making another with a fall theme - stay tuned for that later this summer.

I also want to give Carol a big thank you for hosting this hop, plus all the others I've participated in - they have been a ton of fun! I do hope there's more in the future.

Happy Quilting!

Salute the Fourth of July

The Fourth of July is just around the corner! I'm decorating with my newest runner pattern, Salute, available at Etsy.

Salute Fourth of July runner by QuiltFabrication

Made with my favorite colors - red, white, and blue - this one sews up quickly and easily. Simple paper piecing keeps those stripes in line, making for perfect blocks. Add a few applique stars, and ta-dah! The Salute runner for the Fourth of July is born!

Measuring approximately 15" x 51", this one adorns the counter by my dining room table, surrounded by other patriotic decorations, including the flag outside.

This way, it doesn't compete with the Patriotic Wave.

How about some closeups on Salute? The blue background has an echoed triangle fill.

And because the stripes are so bold, there's no need to go overboard with the quilting there. Stitch-in-the-ditch and a line down the middle complete the runner.

The stars are the same way - simple lines from point to center.

The Salute pattern is now available on Etsy. All templates are included: two for the stars, and full size paper piecing patterns for the blocks. Plus, I include an introduction to paper piecing and fusible applique, and tips on seam matching, techniques a confident beginner will be able to manage.

Have a wonderful Fourth of July!

Patriotic Wave Decorating

As you may know, I make and sell patterns of quilts that I design, and that others will love. And that is certainly the case here, as my most loved pattern is the Patriotic Wave Table Runner.

It's one of my favorites too, and you know I have a lot of favorites!

So, the reason for this post is not so you can get a jump on your sewing for the 4th of July, though there is a treat at the end of the post. No, this post is because of two pictures I've received - and I just have to share!

This week, Maureen sent me a terrific picture of her Patriotic Wave, hanging in her husband's office.

Maureen's Patriotic Wave wall hanging

Maureen says she sews mostly clothes, but looks for small projects that are within her skill level. And she certainly did a fantastic job! With a hanging sleeve on the back, she turned the runner into a wonderful wall hanging. Maureen, thank you so much for sending this - Patriotic Wave is making a lovely wall decoration!

And in the summer of last year, Pam sent me a picture of her Patriotic Wave, which she turned on end to decorate her front door.

Wow - doesn't that look terrific??

Thank you, Maureen and Pam, for sending pictures of your versions of the Patriotic Wave - great job!

Thank you to everyone who has downloaded my patterns - I truly appreciate it! Have a wonderful weekend quilting!
