"Pair of vintage 1920's Chinese sewing baskets. The baskets nest into each other. Traditional decorations of glass bangle , glass beads, metal coins and silk tassels. A little of the original color (blue, black?) remains on the inside and back of the baskets. Approximate basket size of 7.5\" and 9\" Good vintage condition--the large basket doesn't have a glass bangle and the tassels look very worn. Weaving is sturdy and in good condition."

This basket was made by someone from the Tohono O'odham people of southern Arizona. European colonizers named these people the "Papago," however, that term has been rejected. Instead, Tohono O'odham means "desert people." For us, the most interesting thing about this particular basket isn't the pictorials. It's the flaws. One design features a very long arm.
