I received the new Halloween 2021 set of watercolors from IUILE last week–what gorgeous colors! I wanted to try them out on black watercolor paper, and ended up painting some leaves. I loved how it looked so much, that I stamped a greeting and white heat embossed it, and adhered it to a card base.

Emily Lex on Instagram: "The making of a pattern. Masking fluid is a fun product to play with - you paint it on, let it dry and then paint over it with watercolor. Once dry, rub off the masking fluid to reveal the white paper underneath! Masking fluid is available at any art store or online. You can use a brush but beware that it will destroy your good ones! Make sure you wash it out completely. I’m using a metal masking fluid ‘pen’ here. This little spotted pattern is found on the inside cover of the chairs notebook. ✏️" Using Masking Fluid, How To Use Masking Fluid, Watercolor Metallic Paint, Painting With Metallic Watercolors, Watercolor On Handmade Paper, Watercolor Masking Fluid Ideas, Masking Fluid Art, Masking Fluid Watercolor Ideas, Masking Fluid Ideas

Wrinkle that paper, paint something, let it dry, and then go on a treasure hunt to find the pretty surprises that naturally develop as the wrinkles, water, and pigment do their thing. And if more layers and some details feel right, go for it and see what happens! That’s what I did during this practice session, and I had so much fun! 💞 Let your exploration be your teacher. ☺️ I used Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors in Quinacridone Rose, Quinacridone Magenta, and Undersea Green. I used Hobby Lobby’s house brand Master’s Touch rice paper.
