Study photos very carefully.

I'm plucking out cards from cancelled sales for typing use. This is the back of a card like the one below. The story of one customer and his watch. Each drawer held hundreds, if not thousands, of customer records. The earliest were from the 1920s and the latest from the 1960s. The entries from the '50s on weren't as interesting since they added small appliance repairs. I have a certain nerdy fascination with forgotten history gleaned from esoterica. Bliss! An enormous stack of antique documents from Paris and its environs....mostly 1700s....some 1800s....some 1600s....incredible wax seals....hand drawn maps....little attachments stitched on with fine thread....steel pins holding pages together....the most heavenly aroma, that mixture of cedar and tobacco that makes me swoon every time....beautiful watermarks....parchment so fine it is transparent....ragged edges....creases and stains....the foxiest foxing.... Here is a wonderfully aged and shabby vintage French receipt prepared by the company Deliquet, Belloy & Cie. The receipt is date stamped August 1914. Way back then, telephone numbers were easy to remember. The phone number for this company was simply 25. Click on image to enlarge.
