Shaniwar wada is a historic monument dating nearly 200 years. This was built by Bajirao Peshwa I, who was instrumental in reducing the Mughal Empire to be a vassal of the Marathas. Originally this was a seven-storey high structure. But while under British rule, multiple fire incidences destroyed most of the upper structure, and what remains today is just the outer ramparts and some remnants of the inner buildings. #uskpune_shaniwarwada
