These rustic deities together represented the power of the human hand to create and utilise fire. Ankhiale's brother, Prometheus, famously stole fire from heaven for man. She is the daughter of Minos, king of Crete, and Pasiphae. The Bibliotheca calls her Acalle (Greek: Ἀκάλλη).[
