You all know how I get on kicks. A few years ago I was on a sharpie kick- literally finding anything and everything I could makeover with a sharpie. Then, I was painting everything Revere Pewter. Kerry Willetts | Furniture Upcycler on Instagram: "🛎️ Extra tips 🛎️ ✅ Save this post to refer back to later✅ 🪵Use a light Taupe shade of paint for the paint wash to keep a more natural wood look 💧Use a water based varnish to seal the wood as an oil based finish will darken the wood more. 👍 One coat of paint wash usually does the trick. You should wipe it straight back off after you have brushed it on ( don’t let it dry first ) 👀 It should look lighter than you want it to look after the paint wash has dried , so don’t panic it’s supposed to look lighter because once you add the varnish it will bring the tone back down 🤎 😁2 coats of varnish is plenty unless it’s a very high traffic area like a dining table then I’d suggest more coats.
