crowds of Viking villagers run for there lives as a dragon rains down hellfire onto the village. I wanted to add lots of small details to convey a chaotic scene. I played around with a lot of techniques I've picked up recently. I used a lot of photo bashing which is a new technique to me and is definitely a keeper for future pieces, it worked great for this and sped up the process a whole lot.

Description An early concept art done during the pre-production of For Honor : a rather classic battle scene taking place in a viking location. I started this image with a dark background and brighter houses in fire, but it was lacking strengh, so I decided to invert the effect by having instead a bright background in fire and dark-silhouetted houses, to bring a better effect and contrast. Done in 2013 Photoshop
