Full name Parry the Parallel Bird[1]
First appearance Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! (1996)
Latest appearance Donkey Kong Country 3 (Game Boy Advance) (2005)

Parry is an Animal Friend appearing in Donkey Kong Country 3: Dixie Kong's Double Trouble! only. He is a small yellow bird with a blue head and a white neck-stripe; his blue wing-feathers are tipped with red, and he has two long, curved tail feathers, giving him a similar appearance to certain birds-of-paradise, such as the red bird-of-paradise. Parry's name is a shortened form of the word "parallel" ("to be an equal distance apart"), and likely also plays off "paradise." Parry is the only Animal Friend from the game who does not appear in Donkey Kong Land III. He cannot be mounted, comparably to Squawks in Donkey Kong Country, and his animal crate is smaller than the other Animal Friends, given his short size. Parry is also the only Animal Friend of the game without his own Animal Barrel. Parry flies above Dixie and Kiddy Kong and mimics their movements, hence his name. Parry can sometimes obtain otherwise unreachable items, such as in instances where if the Kongs jump, Parry mimics this behavior. Parry is the weakest of the Animal Friends since he is not only defeated from touching nearly every enemy, but also has no means of attack. Booty Birds are the only enemy that Parry can defeat, simply by touching them. If Parry is taken beyond his No Animal Sign, this spawns a valuable reward, such as a Blue Balloon or even an accessible Bonus Barrel.
