I vividly remember the first time I listened to this song. It was around 2021 I wanna say, I was like 12, coming off of Donda and a huge Kanye fan. I put this on, dark room, laying in bed, closed my eyes and put my headphones in full volume. It is one of my most vivid memories of all time, pretty sure I shed a few tears. I'm not a huge Kanye fan now, considering his recent controversies and newer output being horrendous, but goddamnit if I said he wasn't a huge inspiration of mine I would be lying. This song is my Roman Empire.

Mike Dean leaking the original stems and learning what Ye says at 6:00ish is "add pianos" is so fucked. I always thought it was "imma be honest" and then the unintelligible music was him saying even if he was honest it'd be so unique to him and just pure expression, it wouldn't mean or explain anything. I can still imagine this is what he meant, but him just asking to add an instrument to the mix before just singing the chorus with a vocoder is so heartbreaking
