In the 19th century, Thomas Hutter, a young real estate agent is sent to Count Orlok’s castle in Transylvania to finalise paperwork on a house the count is purchasing, which happens to be right next to Hutter’s. As Hutter begins to suspect Orlok’s vampiric nature, a sinister plot involving his wife emerges.
Nosferatu is an upcoming gothic horror film produced by Focus Features and delves in for a fresh take on the classic vampire horror novel about an unwitting couple who find themselves at the mercy of Count Dracula at his estate in Transylvania. The film is written and directed by Robert Eggers, who previously wrote and directed The Witch, The Lighthouse, and co-wrote The Northman. The film takes inspiration from Bram Stoker’s original 1897 novel Dracula, in addition to the 1922 German silent film Nosferatu.
Nosferatu stars Bill Skarsgård (IT) as Count Orlok, the sinister vampire at the heart of the story. He is joined by Nicholas Hoult as Thomas Hutter, the unwitting human sent to Count Orlok’s estate by his employer, Herr Nock, played by Simon McBurney, along with his wife, Ellen, played by Lily-Rose Depp. Aaron Taylor-Johnson plays the couple’s friend Friedrich Harding, and Emma Corrin plays his sister, Anna Harding. Willem Dafoe takes on the role of the occult scientist Professor Albin Eberhart Von Franz, and Ralph Inseson plays Dr. Sievers.
Nosferatu will debut in cinemas on Christmas Day, December 25, 2024.
