Terror on the Prairie (2022)
Some error on the prairie
Good thing - the movie has some nice cinematography even though the palette is a bit dull. The bad - plot holes and Gina cannot act.
Story is simple the protagonists are simple though some may argue she unnecessarily provoked the fight alone instead of waiting for husband. In her defense it was revealed during the fight that the baddies were after her husband. The movie had some tense moments but quickly fell in the heroes favor. Overall a slow burner with built up suspense until it collapsed faster than expected.
But DW honestly needs to think about Gina's acting she was wooden almost the whole time. She is a genuine strong woman with genuine MMA skills and hence they need to cast her as such and not for her acting skills which need to improve by a lot. (She did exhibit the strength needed but was unconvincing since it was not played to her real strength)
One time watch but wishing DW luck. And oh...please tone down a bit on the christian themes and values...nothing wrong in it but I am part of a diverse audience who are in the fight against woke but not a christian myself.
Green Lantern: Beware My Power (2022)
GL shown the red light
What worked was the animation...top notch as usual or better than usual. What didn't work was the story. Sure it started slow with a different angle to the origin story kept me interested till first half of the movie. Unfortunately some middle aged kid suddenly took over the story and messed up the remaining half especially the end. The end was pathetic and unwarranted. Guess another half way down the drain. This lantern is definitely out of juice. Watch it only for the animation.
And enough with origin stories give us something better.
Shut In (2022)
Good movie
For DW who have just entered the movie scene this was a good offering. It was short and suspenseful although everyone could see the end. The actors did a decent job but really liked the little girl who acted superbly. Overall good entertainment.
What Is a Woman? (2022)
Scary....but worth watching
This is why the Roman empire fell. Too much of good brought the bad. Invent problems where there are none. Under the garb of attending genuine cases the pharma, the doctors, professors activists and all other involved knowingly or unknowingly are minting money by influencing a young confused generation to transition to feel what is good and not what is real. This documentary though missed some subtle points made it's case clear. I feel my blood boiling at these people who manipulate and don't listen to reason mostly deliberately. I feel sad and pity for the young and the parents caught in it's influence. And I feel very bad for the people who really need help but are used as a cause to make money. And I fear that this woke virus spreading across the world. A majority of people always dismiss the threats looming since it doesn't affect them but give or take a few years it reaches their doorsteps.
The evil always precisely counts on the majority to ignore the matter because they just want to go on with their lives. Maybe it's time to curb some personal freedoms for family and community.
Morbius (2022)
The last act though...
Jared was good as Morbius but funnily he got beat very often and had to call on the bats to finish Lucian. That was fairly anticlimatic they way Lucian dies. Well it has it's good moments just needed more depth to the story overall.
Sweet Girl (2021)
Sweet Girl dumb end
Everything was going ok until when they showed it was her who did all the badass stuff and not her father. I know it is a late review but Musk was right about Wokeflix. They seriously need to push back against far too unrealistic depictions unless it's a superhero movie. The movie really had potential to be a decent thriller but alas pandering comes first. Feeling bad for Jason pretty good guy.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Not the best in this multiverse
Visually it was exceptional as ever. The jokes though are becoming a bit predictable need something new. The plot was interesting but seem a bit convulated with too many things happening. Overall it was satisfying. 8 stars for being good -2 stars for being woke. Guess America Chavez is going to join the USA military.
Ambulance (2022)
Not bad at all....
Michael Bay is doing these types better than the transformers series. I liked 6 underground and I liked this. No brainer but mad action. Cast is excellent. Worth watch atleast once.
Arcane: League of Legends (2021)
Never played LOL but whatever...
Rarely show something so good based on a video game. Brilliant animation and superb storyline. You don't even have to know LOL that's how the story is from the scratch. I just came across this and thought the reviews are fantastic let's see it. And couldn't stop watching! Give a shot you won't regret it!
Moonfall (2022)
Moon fell alright.
The story is so simple but they have to mess that up too. Now all scifi plots are almost unbelievable but this one takes the cake. Far too illogical and too much human drama with little emphasis on what actually may happen if the moon came so close to Earth. It's just a mashup of different movies and thrown in the blender to see how it goes.
The effects were good though that was the only thing I liked.
Well even The Wandering Earth is a bit better in the story line with equally good visuals.
Deep Water (2022)
Shallow water
It's not a thriller or a suspense or romantic it's just a movie about psycho couple. She can't stop sleeping with other men and he can't stop killing them. She looks awesome as ever but he kinda looks bored to do this movie. An ordinary flick give it a miss if you want to.
The Legend of Vox Machina (2022)
Definitley a good one
I have never ever heard of Vox Machina or Critical Role. The only that drew me here is that I love animation especially aimed at mature crowd age. And I am far from disappointed I really liked it ! First invincible now this.
The only small bit is that the story is a bit less mature, seems to be written by an in between teenager and an adult. But barring that aside great show.
Catwoman: Hunted (2022)
The cat's half out of the bag
A mixed up bag for sure. Catwoman is a silly movie who doesn't seem to know it's target audience. While I used to be a fan of anime style characterization but over the period of time they all start to look the same. The story was shallow with everything happening quickly and soon forgotten.
DC seems to forget the quality of the movies they used to make. The same tragedy happened to WW bloodlines - it developed a clot. It funny to think that there are so few female centric animation movies made by DC and only WW 2009 was the best, the rest were absolute try hards.
Overall I expected to be a mature movie but it targeted the kids instead. Maybe they are their audience after all?
Invincible (2021)
Inventive !
This is actually on par with Justice League , Batman and Superman animated series. And the end was a bit unexpected which made it more engaging and wishing that further seasons would come out soon. It's just that I wish it wasn't that gory, I mean people shouldn't normalize it as it was done with p***, mind just numbed to it. Overall a solid watch.
Blood of Zeus (2020)
Great ! Finally something new
Really liked it. Good to know further seasons are in the works. A different story than what we usually know. And unlike some of the garbage forced down (looking at MOTU ) this actually know it's audience.
Masters of the Universe: Revelation (2021)
Ok now I know we he cried
What went right was the animation. It was top notch. And I am a bit of conservative and liberal so I did like the butch Teela and Evil Lynn and was glad when Teela got her hair back. As for the rest of cast they did a splendid job. Lena Headley and Mark Hamill truely showed they indeed are the veterans of the industry.
What went wrong was the story. Now this has been said here many times dividing the camp into old timers and newer woke crowds but judging by the ratings the old timers won this one out. And the story was disappointing. The pace was too fast there was no depth. Teela started way too obnoxious though tempered down a bit later, Evil Lynn become Goody Lynn in the end - pretty much unheard and out of character. And the biggest hurt was this was advertised as He Man and Skeletor as the main cast but went to Teela and Evil Lynn. The power spike for these two ladies reminded me captain marvel-it was overdone. From petty skirmish to universe saving fight it was too fast. And reference to Hulk and Thanos finger snap was too obvious.
Do I want a sequel despite this being woke? Well yes atleast for the animation. But they should deliver what was promised and not mess with He Man and Skeletor as main cast. If they want a female centric series they are better off with She Ra no need to mess here. And please keep the pace even, it was like Iron Man 1 and then straight to infinity wars.
Eternals (2021)
Lost potential..though not eternally
It could have been a nice movie since it sets apart from other MCU offerings. All the attempts to deliver riveting action and one liners seemed half-hearted with the plot producing more questions than giving answers.
The cast ensemble was great but they somehow gave unexciting performances, some were quite wasted to be frank. The villain department was underwhelming with not much to focus up, just creatures to be wasted. Now I know that I went in without any knowledge of the source material but thought the deviants would be some well defined characters and not just some apex predators who didn't evolve. And the end well it thoroughly confused as to how the combined power of eternals can stop a celestial whose capabilities are beyond anything what we have seen in MCU.
Positives were the shots were good cast is great. Movie length mattered since not much happens. And please atleast leave the bollywood out or get that act better. If you want to make a cultural representation please make it to be appreciated and not joked upon.
All in all this was a decent film and looking forward for a sequel though.
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part Two (2021)
A bit inconsistent but good
Unlike the first part this one was a bit rushed so it took a little bit of time to make sense of what was going on. The twist at the end though was really nice and somewhat unexpected. Apart from the minor inconsistent continuity this holds up as a sequel or part two should be.
Batman: The Long Halloween, Part One (2021)
A real good movie after quite some time.
The animation the tone the background music the cast everything is excellent in setting up the type of the batman animated movie we would like to see. It portrays batman in his early years so he has less of detective skill than we are used to which may be covered in part 2 but this movie is as satisfying as a batman movie could be. Do give it a watch.
Justice Society: World War II (2021)
One of the better DC movies
Really liked the animation style. WW is given some really cool action scenes as well as both Flash get some nice abilities. A bit of a gripe is that most characters especially WW sometimes go into wooden face mode and she is in scowling mode most of the time.
The story goes from nazi to magic to Atlanteans with little depth to any of them. The end desired to be better but given the flow of the story we couldn't expect more.
Overall a good watch with something different than usual.
Godzilla vs. Kong (2021)
Need more runtime !!
It came this close to being an awesome movie had not been for low runtime. Hence much of plot seems rushed. But the fights were great minus grand entrance of any monster. And the effects were cool too especially the fictional world created.
Another small gripe apart from less runtime is the absence of other titans but you don't really miss them much...they may come in future installments I hope.
Overall do give it watch I came away happy 😊
In the Blood (2014)
It's In the Blood, in real life too
Gina is one rare girl who manages to look cute and savage at the same time. And given the recent debacle she has managed to stay strong and true to her nature. And she really is one strong woman not like the airy heads who think they are strong just because some movie portrays them to be. Wishing her luck and looking forward to more of her movies.
Run Hide Fight (2020)
Finally a plain old action film we all deserve
This film is as it should be, no messages, no virtue signalling, no woke and broke stuff. The critics can Run Hide Fight all they want, they won't win so easily over the audience with their opinions which are getting irrelevant on many counts.
Wonder Woman 1984 (2020)
Another 2020 WW movie to miss
First WW Bloodlines now WW 1984. And it's even ironic that this year has been full of women movements and what not and the one character which lost the most in both animation and live action is WW. Gal Gadot is gorgeous especially in WW outfit but it's not enough to save the movie. Like it's animated counterpart it tries to stitch many things without going into much depth. And the inconsistent physical strength of her character really puts me off.
You can watch for Gal Gadot if you want but the rest is stereo typical stuff which went out of fashion long time ago.
Superman: Man of Tomorrow (2020)
A different take than usual...hope more comes
This one of the better ones of superman series Ive seen with a new animation and tone of the film leaning towards more...humane issues. A potential to start the Justice League again. All it needs is a bit of clever plot thats all. Though why recent DC movies are featuring nudity though is a bit surprising. Granted the movies are aimed at mature people but not all scenes fit in, rather they try to fill in the holes. But overall a good watch.
