Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald (2018)
Boring and forgettable
The Chinese fantastic beast is stolen from Star Wars including the sound effect. Likewise the film has nothing to offer except for pretty costumes and good acting.
Klaus (2019)
Heartwarming Story
I don't like christmas.
I don't like christmas films.
I almost cried like 3-4 times.
Marriage Story (2019)
Great craftsmanship
Great craftsmanship but the content is only supported by the acting of the two protagonists. If I'd had a glass of wine, I might be able to pull a metaphor for theater vs film out of my hat...
(Also shies away from showing a bad and manipulativ mother but has no problems of showing a dad who's trieing and failing.)
Astérix: Le domaine des dieux (2014)
Beautiful animation style
Beautiful animation style that will still look good in 10 years.
The usual funny story with witty a criticism of our society.
Lawrence of Arabia (1962)
Beautiful Pictures
Obi Wan plays a Bedouin prince with his bright blue eyes...
3h 47min and no woman speaks or is really seen on screen. White savior story. Has earned the Oscar for cinematography.
Togo (2019)
Low Budget Disney
Shows a child-friendly, cute puppy story rather than the really tough survival drama. Therefore everyone in the audience will end up crying at the end.
Terrible color filter to hide the cheap CGI paired with bad layering.
Shazam! (2019)
Surprising
The best DC film I've seen so far and one of the best origin stories.
Unfortunately the film weakens after 2/3 with a mediocre, predictable ending.
Also it is questionable whether a second part can maintain the charm.
First Blood (1982)
Social Critic mixed with Action
White system-, social- and Vietnam war critic shown as a chaos spiral.
Allows the male protagonist to show physical strength and emotional weakness without labelling him as weak.
None diverse cast, also only one woman present for a short time.
Per un pugno di dollari (1964)
Great Film
Fast draw and charming like Lucky Luke, cunning like Petyr Baelish.
Paired with a fast moving plot, where you actually can miss something while looking at your phone for a secound.
(Only two woman present but at least none of them is the wining price at the end.)
Die blaue Hand (1967)
Die blaue Hand
Good acting and an exciting story with a good tempo. However, it shows the cliché, scary mental sanctuary.
Der Hund von Blackwood Castle (1968)
Blackwood
Exciting, funny and good acting. The end, or the resolution, however, has a much faster pace than the rest and thus seems quite hasty.
Der Mönch mit der Peitsche (1967)
The better Edgar Wallace monk
Good acting, but Fuchsberger could have swallowed the gum. Contentwise and the titel is similar to The Sinister Monk, but it's more excitin and better written.
