Excellent, excellent show
I'd heard so many good things about Goblin that I've had it on my watchlist for the longest time. Finally got around to watching it over Christmas 2021.
Reflecting on the show overall, it's fascinating how a story can be so complete even without an explicit antagonist. Instead, what drove the story forward were the little interrelationships among the characters, and the overarching mystery where bits and pieces were filled in by connecting the present time with the characters' past lives. By the end, you're attached to the characters and feel like they've fully developed over 16 episodes. Fantastic storytelling.
Everything else was great as well - cinematography, the acting (Kim Go-eun is phenomenal), the music.
If you're still waiting for a sign to watch this show, this is it. Go watch Goblin. You are in for a wonderful ride.

Nothing much here
Giving 3 stars just for the aesthetics - the cinematography and OST is good. Locations are nice as well. But that's it. The writing is abysmal. Complete lack of character development - the main characters gained nothing over 10 episodes. A lot of scenes felt forced and seemed like a half-hearted attempt just to move the plot forward. The story of the supporting cast was much more interesting than the main story.

Give it a chance
It's understandable why they cut the number of episodes and why the ratings weren't so good. The beginning is undeniably slow, a little weird, and confusing, and you end up with more questions than answers. I was still kind of lost by around the 4th and 5th episodes.
BUT once you get past that, you realize that this is actually a really well thought out story. It all comes together toward the end. There's a consistent theme of dealing with grief and eventually overcoming it. The visuals (cinematography, locations, colors) are just absolutely beautiful, and the feels from the soundtracks are going to stay with me for a while. The acting is realistic and never over the top.
Overall, I'd give this a rating of 8.5. Recommended for those looking for a meaningful show to watch.

Still a good watch
I mean....I'll admit that it doesn't have the depth of other really well-crafted Kdramas, but it's still an entertaining show. I'd give it a 7.5 if IMDB would let me. Some parts of the show are cliche/corny and some of the acting could have been better. But still, to be fair, it had some pretty good moments too in terms of writing and acting, and I enjoyed it overall. Giving this 10 stars would be a stretch in my opinion, but for sure the 1 star reviews are just unfair. Still worth a watch.

Perfect
This kdrama brings out a full range of emotions: nostalgia, sadness, that warm fuzzy feeling, and laugh-out-loud delight.
Reply 1988 is a complete experience, dragging you into their world of Ssangmundong like you're another neighbor on the block. You'll end up reflecting on your own childhood, and maybe consider reaching out to old friends you may have lost touch with. You'll remember how important relationships with your family members and friends are, and maybe you'll hug your parents a little tighter afterwards.
20 episodes, 1.5 to 2 hours each might seem like an eternity in our fast-paced world, but believe me when I say that this show will leave you begging for more. Highly recommended.
