... it got me. Thought I would hate this and watched out of pure curiosity (I really wanted to hate this) and after watching the first episode, I now can't wait for the next. Love the plot, characters are good, even got me jigging about on the final "death star" sequence when the phasers kicked in. Good showing guys. Worth a go. Don't get the initial bad ratings. People just don't have enough joy in there hearts nowadays.

Pleasantly surprised at how good this turned out to be.

I thought the show was trying to appeal to both kids and adults through their choices of characters. The writing style and story-line worked well enough that I found that they succeeded in connecting me with the younger characters in a mostly nostalgic way.

I really liked that it was the older characters, however, that drove the core of each episode. It helped maintain the seriousness of the evolving story.

I'll admit that I have a preference for serious storytelling. The plot for this series definitely leans toward a more adult mindset within a coming of age framework.

The serious overtones, good Sci-fi elements and the way the story is organically growing made a huge difference for me. I'm very happy with the way this series started because Star Trek can be 'hit or miss'. This one hits the bullseye.

I also love the addition of Hologram (Captain) Janeway. Everyone has their favorite captain. Janeway happens to be my favorite post-TOS captain and Kate Mulgrew has delivered on the role once again.

It's not that I expected Prodigy to be bad, I just had no real expectations. It was specifically marketed as a way to get a younger audience interested in Star Trek and I can see how it would. But it's honestly better written than some of its recent live-action peers. It strikes a nice balance between the chock-full of callbacks nature of Lower Decks and covering new ground that still seems recognizably situated in the same universe.

And I LOVED this. Like many others that have posted here, I didn't think I would like this at all. I only watched it because it popped up a few times on my Netflix feed and figured I'd watch an episode just to check the box, so to speak.

I watched four episodes that evening, then five the next, and the rest two days later. Here I was, a 59 year old watching cartoons. The truth was, I was hooked and couldn't belileve it. I've been a Star Trek fan for as long as I can remember, and this was absolutely Star Trek at its finest. I loved the tie-ins to the past shows and Janeway's hologram character. Everything was exactly on point - the writing, the animation, the storyline, the characters, all were outstanding. I didn't expect the humor to be as good as it was either. I really hope this returns with another storyline because this was an outstanding effort all around.

I see some comparing it to star wars... They probably haven't seen a single episode. After episode 3 I was hooked, it's star trek all the way. It's more star trek then any other recent live action series. Having Janeway there and having so many other star trek cameo's makes it awesome to watch. It's also fast paced and some Great adventures. And yes it's made for kids but its enjoyable for adults too! Give it a go! Also why does it have as 6.7 rating while the episodes all have an average of 8/10???

Among the Star Trek series that have come out in recent years, Prodigy is definitely the one that best captures the original vibe of the universe created by Gene Roddenberry. Sure, it's aimed at a younger audience, but the writing is really excellent, so much so that it has even won over a fifty-year-old like me. There's no comparison to the other animated series that aired recently: this one has the true essence of Star Trek, while the other one was just full of childish jokes. It's a shame that this series is so underrated, because it deserves much more. Overall, Star Trek: Prodigy is a great show that deserves to be seen by a wider audience. It's a fun and exciting adventure that will appeal to fans of Star Trek of all ages.

Sure it starts out somewhat childish and sort of a reminder of Star Wars but it definitely improves over time. It's worth a watch. I don't want to spoil things but there are a lot of reoccurring Star Trek themes and situations. The whole atmosphere of the show feels much more as expected from fans which is refreshing in itself after all the agenda pushing of the other products.

The overall story-line is an ethical dilemma itself. As I see this could easily go on as a live-action version. Also, the ST audience deserves a real continuation of the story of the Federation after the events with Voyager.

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the shows animation and story, especially with all the bad reviews that came out even before the show did.

As much as I enjoyed the Original Star Trek animated show as a kid do I think this generation will enjoy this show.

Watched the pilot episode. I am not really sold on the main protagonist cockiness and the constant jokes, breaking every possible moment, but what got me is the bond between the misfits cast. I felt like I am watching a story. I really hope they do make something with that story, that it goes somewhere by the end of the season. That the characters evolve, create relationships. And have an ending...actual ending. I don't find "smart", endings like Nolan's spinning top, still casing arguments. That ain't clever, that is "I don't know what to say", so let me leave this cliffhanger.

This will get new Trek fans in earlier. This is the Delta quadrant and there are many episodes to link the Trek ethos from the Delta quadrant. The visuals are outstanding, the stories are wonderful for kids and enjoyable for adults to watch with them. It is perfect. If I had a particular nitpick I dont love Dal, seems a bit useless and whiny right now... but its literally 3 episodes in.

Enjoy it for what it is.

This show is not perfect.

But it is really good.

Lower your expectations and just enjoy it for what it is. It's a nickelodeon show about the star trek universe with 6 completely new members and a brand new ship.

It doesn't follow the normal star trek set-up, it's obviously made with children in mind, so don't expect anything to deep, or too dark.

And in this lies the charm. It just feels like good old charming star trek. There is enough here for old fans, and enough here for new fans.

And I promise you, the characters will grow on you. What felt a little bit awkward and stiff in the beginning soon melts away and you'll come to love this crew just as much as previous crews.

I really hope we get more seasons of this. Because this is the best star trek since the 90s.

I wasn't immediately convinced with Prodigy smashed onto our screens in late 2021 and feeling like a tonal mash between Clone Wars and Trollhunters. It was felt a bit bombastic and heavy-handed, but honestly it really began to grow on me and by the time of the wildly canonical "Kobayashi Maru" episode I was fully on board. With some beautiful backgrounds, dynamic set pieces, respectful references and a strong focus on character Prodigy ends up as one of the strongest entries in the recent Trek canon and easily my favourite set in the post-Voyager era. Hopefully it will do what it was built to do and give whole new generations of Trekkies a strong grounding on which to boldly go.

Though it is difficult to judge with one episode out. But I love the essential "exploring with a ship" foundation and looking forward to what happens. The characters seem interesting and the animation very nice. The storyline so far seems pretty basic but we'll see.

Despite it might seem it will be more of a kids show it still has many elements that are enjoyable for any ST fan. Give it a chance!

Laughing at all the early reviews that complain that it's not Trek. It seemed far off for the first few episodes to set it up, but then we get the Kobyashi Maru, Time distortions, Ferengis, now finally uniforms, and Trek like moral decisions. So Trek like now that maybe the other current series writers should take note. Holo Janeway is amazing, but Kate Mulgrew is an awesome actor. If you got turned off by the first few episodes you should give it a second chance. Hey we still get to look forward to Chokatay making an appearance in the second half of the season, after all it is his ship.

Ok, it starts a bit slow and more child-friendly, but give it time. This series will grow on you, eventually. It plays the nostalgic tones just enough for old fans, but everything is so new, interesting, and the characters are so good, you will know this is NOT fanservice like Lower Decks, but a completely new glorious chapter in the Star Trek universe.

The story is captivating, well-detailed, it totally makes sense in a Star Trek environment, and it is engaging to the last second.

Its strongest point is clearly the characters. Each and every member of the main cast is unique, and they get more than enough focus. The best part is how equal they are. Even the supposed "lead" is fallible, heck, often they are the biggest buffoon of all. They all get their character development and they contribute equally to the advancement of the story. They solve all issues and mysteries together, and they get the credit as so as well. That is.... until the second part of Season 2, where the show makes a downturn in that regard. The story remains fast pacing and interesting, you want to see it to the end, you cheer on our beloved team and you should absolutely watch it, but...

But then they suddenly push several character into the background. Some of them sit out complete episodes, some of them make complete U-turn in character development and they are all reduced to the cheering squad of a single remaining main character who is pushed into the foreground, obviously becomes the leader of the team (to the point where the others actually start to admit it prematurely), then almost single-handedly solves the whole conflict, with some help from the others, but not any more as equals like before, but as a supporting staff. And this really kills something beautiful in this series.

The fact that from a team of equals the cast became a main protagonist and supporting squad is a huge letdown for the second season, even though I'm still looking forward to Season 3.

NOTE: I'm gonna re-evaluate this review once Season 3 is released.

Folks, I've seen every episode and movie Star Trek has ever released. This season was very unexpectedly true to the heart of Star Trek, followed the story of Voyager extremely well, and kept me on the edge of my seat! I was 7 when Picard and crew started my generation and Prodigy fits very well into the Star Trek family. I'm amazed at how authentic and non-childish Nickelodeon kept this. As you watch season 2, keep Back to the Future at the front of your mind, because there very subtle homages to it! It's an exciting and new story which serves as a perfect bridge to any gap between original fans and new fans in the hopes of following Prodigy's crew into the future.

SEASON: 7/10.

A seriously well written sci fi show, that explores actual speculative sci fi themes and never ones talks down to its intended young audience.

Even aside from it being genuinely good star trek, this is an important show. I can think of no other animated shows of the last few decades that are designed get kids into real sci fi like this. The clone wars (and spin offs) tackled some hard themes and ideas but weren't solely about them. Actions shows set in space are not inherently sci fi, this tackles complex themes and asks questions of what it means to be a person as all good sci should.

Its also straight up excellent Trek. It's representative of different kinds of people, as Trek always has been. Absolutely worth your kids time, and hopefully Netflix produces many more seasons of this.

I wasn't really interested in this title in the Star Trek catalogue. It looked childish and not for me. But I forced myself to watch it so I could say I 100% the catalogue. Glad I didn't skip it.

Yes it is targeted to older kids but it is still really enjoyable to watch and quiet frankly after slogging through Discovery and Picard I needed some reasonably decent Trek.

This follows a ragtag bunch of characters that find themselves on a lost Federation ship. A familiar character from a previous Star Trek is there to help the crew along their journey.

This is only two seasons and they seemed to have known it was ending so there is an actual ending which closes out the show in a satisfying way. Would recommend to any Trek fan or olders kids into sci fi.

When I was young, I watched the the original series and the animated series. Since then I watched every Star Trek series and even read a few novels.

I watched Prodigy and was delightfully impressed. Such a great series for everyone, especially as a entry to Trek for kids. Not only that, it's great to see characters of the Voyager series on the screen again.

The story is actually pretty good. It's a fun trip through space with an enjoyable, ragtag group of characters.

So whether you're looking to introduce your kids to Star Trek or to reminisce with familiar characters of the Voyager crew, Prodigy is a great series any Trek fan should watch.

FYI - I'm half way through season two, and it's amazing! Just keeps getting better!!!

Just finished season two. What wonderful story telling and fun character growth. Can't wait for season 3!
