Mariah Carey is one of the most successful recording artists in history, but you wouldn’t know it from her Grammy track record. She won two awards in 1991. Then she won three more in 2006 … End of list. Five Grammys isn’t a bad total in and of itself. Some legendary artists have none. But the fact that she has so little to show for her historic run through the 1990s is pretty shocking given her stature at the time. “They scammed me,” Carey said (half-jokingly?) on the “Las Culturistas” podcast with Bowen Yang and Matt Rogers. “They toy with me.”

Did Chris Hemsworth’s Thor Cause the Events of Avengers: Endgame? (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Chris Hemsworth‘s Thor, the god with a beer belly and existential crisis, might’ve set Endgame in motion. While he wallowed, Ant-Man brought a wild idea: time travel to grab the Infinity Stones before Thanos could strike. Let’s rewind this epic tale.
The Science (Or Madness?) of Time Travel
This is where things get sticky. Iron Man, Hulk, and the gang teamed up to mess around with time, and things got wonderfully chaotic when they started hopping through different eras. They split into squads, each heading to a specific timeline to nab the stones. Thor and Rocket zipped back to Asgard in 2013, hoping to swipe the Reality Stone, while Captain America, Iron Man, and Ant-Man had full hands in New York circa 2012. But not everything went as planned—especially after Loki escaped with the Tesseract.

Mariah Carey has some thoughts about how she’s been treated by the Recording Academy, the organization responsible for the Grammy Awards.
Believe it or not, the 55-year-old chanteuse has only received five awards at the ceremony over the years.
During a recent interview, she opened up about the relatively minimal recognition that she’s received considering her lengthy and historic career. She also said that her “best album” was overlooked.
Keep reading to find out more…
While on the Las Culturistas podcast, Mariah was told that she didn’t “have enough” wins at the ceremony.
“They scaaaaammed me,” she agreed, via EW, adding, “They toy with me.”
Mariah also referred to her 1997 album Butterfly as being “probably [her] best album.” She noted that it got “zero accolades.” At the Grammys that year, her singles “Honey” and “Butterfly” were both nominated but did not win.

Tarsem’s The Fall is now showing exclusively on Mubi.A version of the following interview was originally published in Pardo, the Locarno Film Festival’s official daily magazine. The conversation has been expanded and edited for republication on Notebook. The Fall.“If Andrei Tarkovsky made The Wizard of Oz”—that’s how David Fincher summed up his friend Tarsem’s globe-spanning, decades-in-the-making magnum opus, The Fall (2006). This shapeshifting fable about the art and power of storytelling is maybe more Alejandro Jodorowsky than Tarkovsky, but, most importantly, it’s all Tarsem.Tarsem: the mononym is of a piece with his bold, brazen style. Like his film-school peers Michael Bay and Zack Snyder, the Punjab-born Tarsem is a bona fide vulgar auteur. He was still a student when he made his first hit music video, for R.E.M.’s “Losing My Religion” (1991). A young Tarsem Singh Dhandwar had arrived in...

His representative, Howie Hubberman, said in a statement following his passing that, “Seth has been struggling with substance abuse problems for quite sometime. The sudden death of Crazy Town frontman Shifty Shellshock three months ago has been linked to fentanyl, the powerful synthetic opioid also cited in the untimely deaths of fellow musicians Prince, Tom Petty, Mac Miller, and Lil Peep.
In a statement released Tuesday, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner revealed that the official cause of death for the singer-songwriter born Seth Brooks Binzer was the combined effects of fentanyl, cocaine, and methamphetamine. The manner of death was an “accident,” the department said.

Pascal Plante, on his second feature outing takes an original and forensic approach to what could have been a hackneyed subject: a serial killer.
Right from the start as he observes Kelly-Anne (Juliette Gariépy) start what looks like just another mundane day as she makes her way to the Superior Court of Quebec to observe the first day of the trial of Ludovic Chevalier (Maxwell McCabe-Lokos) who is accused of three murders. The deeds themselves are gruesome enough but they have been live-streamed for payment on the dark web “red room.”
Kelly-Anne, it becomes clear, is obsessed with the killer and the various cases outlined in court. Her preoccupation with evil serves as a parallel to Society’s unhealthy obsession with the dark side of human nature.

When director James Gunn took on a soft reboot of The Suicide Squad, he brought in some familiar members, some less familiar characters, and one who was, at best, tangential to the team in the comics. Yet, with a keen eye for casting, the director knew exactly who would make Peacemaker work despite his odd Pat Boyette-designed costume and weird rationale provided by co-creator Joe Gill. Christopher Smith loved peace so much he would violently assure it.
In the form of former pro wrestler turned actor John Cena, the character played it so straight that he was hysterical in an already gonzo film. Apparently, Gunn was so enchanted with the performance that he idly began writing a backstory miniseries and when he mentioned it to producing partner Peter Safran, he was encouraged to sell it. HBO Max snapped it up and it is now available on Blu-ray from Hob Home Entertainment.

Loona (often stylized as LOOΠΔ) made their highly-anticipated K-pop comeback for 2019 with their latest track Butterfly. The lead single off the reissue of their first extended play (Ep) titled [X X] has an ambient sound that focuses on the diverse vocals of each member. It is a synth-melody with auto-tuned wailing, and a breakdown worth dancing to when the beat drops. Overall, it is a great first comeback of 2019 for Loona. However, it is also a comeback that is getting plenty of attention. As a matter of fact, Butterfly is the first time Loona has charted. Not only that, […]

This January, a mini-deluge of U.K. productions will make their way to the fair shores of the States, including a legal thriller, an espionage thriller and a slightly-less-thrilling coming-of-age drama. Elsewhere, Netflix revives an animated favorite; gives Atlanta’s hardest Mc his own platform; and gets the lowdown on the most catastrophic music festival since Altamont. And thank you, CBS, for rewarding the Star Trek faithful with a sophomore season of its All Access spinoff. Here’s what you’ll be streaming in the start of this fine, fine new year.
