This episode was really good. I'm not positive why the other reviews are going on about it one fatphobia. The intern being bad had nothing to do with her size, but her incompetence. I think what the show was trying to do was show how hard it is to be an intern for the anthropology field. The other interns make it look easy and we were just taken back to season 4 when they first started to come around. Not everything has to do with body shapes, and this episode certainly did not. There was another episode in season 3 when it was completely about the body type of a female.
Anyway, I liked the acapella boys banter and how much Aubrey got into it. Hilarious.

The one time we get to see a little bit of body diversity, and she's completely incompetent?

While there are no references to the new intern's size, the fact that the writers chose to cast a completely incompetent intern as a fat girl is very disappointing.

Between the fatphobia and the cringey a capella performances, this is one of the worst Bones episodes. The writers' treatment of non-thin people on this show is gross.

The only intern in which body diversity was presented is as clumsy, sluggish and with lower mental acumen than her peers. Shameful, and definitely not the first time this show shows it's contempt for body diversity.

Overall I enjoy the series, the complex interpersonal relationships and the overarching subplots but this episode succeeds at only disappointing.
Apart from the annoying main story, the sub story with the new intern is the most disappointing. The take from this episode seems to be "You can work yourself to the bone to get to be an intern, but if you lack confidence because of your life so far, and are not skinny then sorry your fired". How is that supposed to encourage younger viewers who may look to bones as an inspiration. So much for encouraging diversity in stem.

The many boring music scenes detract from the plot, just like all the "hidden" car and tech ads. Additionally, many plot points are so trope-y I felt like I was watching an isekai anime.

So we start out with the new intern, Sammy. It's obvious that she is frightened and it is her first (and only) day. Bones sends her packing. She is chunky and sort of unattractive physically. Unlike those women in the singing group who have every advantage, including their fashion model appearances. The men's group is the same. Weren't those the Pentatonix in there? Then we have the Boorish Ape Booth passing judgment on the kids in the singing group because that's what they chose to do with their spare time in college. What? No football? What? No using your size to intimidate people. The way he walks into their rehearsals is disgusting. Finally, he gets a shot at Aubrey and diminishes the importance of his musical accomplishments. One more shot! And Brennan and her high horse. Of course, she could put down that poor woman because she could pick and choose her ammunition. I'm really surprised that Booth decided not to go after his son, who wanted to pursue his dreams. How generous of him. He gets the joy of being this big guy, condescending despite his feelings.
