When asked how similar or different Jean-Claude Van Damme was to her Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) co-star, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Kristanna Loken stated, "Van Damme has got a big heart, I'm not saying Arnold doesn't. I'm just saying the way he showcases himself is in a soft, kindly manner. And he's very available emotionally as an actor."
Director James Cullen Bressack said he used Noir films of the 1940's as inspiration while writing this film and made it as violent and brutal as possible so that the viewer would be uncertain if Van Damme would get out of his situations alive.
