A&e Network conjures five supernatural series from the ethers.

The paranormal is getting normalized on A&e Network, as they bring Ghost Hunters, Psychic Kids, and Celebrity Ghost Stories back to life, debut the new series Trey The Texas Medium, and throw the World’s Biggest Ghost Hunt.

A&e Network gave the green light to five compelling unexplained paranormal universe shows. “A&e has been on the forefront of programming in the paranormal space and with that success, we have been eager to bring the genre back to the network for some time,” said Elaine Frontain Bryant, Evp and Head of Programming, A&e Network. “Each of these series has a unique point of view, but will collectively give our audience a window into a world of spellbinding stories that have to be seen to be believed.”

A&e Network ain’t afraid of no ghosts: The cable net on Wednesday ordered five paranormal unscripted series, including a revival of Ghost Hunters.

Ghost Hunters, which originally ran on Syfy from 2004 to 2016, will once again follow team leader Grant Wilson as he and a new crew of professional ghost hunters investigate hauntings across the country. With the help of “forensic experts, historical records and the most innovative technology available,” the logline reads, “the new squad will help everyday people who are struggling with unexplained supernatural phenomena” and “give relief to those plagued by paranormal activity.” (Watch a teaser for the new installments above.

The new Dementia 13 trailer shows that some children won’t stay submerged.

Chiller Films has dropped the trailer for the upcoming retelling of Francis Ford Coppola’s atmospheric 1963 debut film Dementia 13, which was produced by independent movie maestro Roger Corman.

“A vengeful ghost, a mysterious killer, and a family where everyone has a secret converge in one night of terror,” the official synopsis promises.

The reimaging was directed by Richard LeMay (Blood Bound, Naked As We Come). Dementia 13 was written by Dan DeFilippo, who wrote the screenplays for The Invaders and Chilling Visions: 5 States of Fear) and Justin Smith (SiREN, The Boy).

The original movie told the tale of Luana Anders a scheming young woman who murders her husband and infiltrates his disturbing family’s stately, out-of-the-way mansion on a lake in Ireland. Her plans are interrupted by an axe-wielding lunatic who stalks and hacks up the family.

Dementia 13 is the retelling of Francis Ford Coppola’s film of the same name, which was produced by Roger Corman.

On the other hand, GLAAD is angry with Showtime’s Ray Donovan for its pilot where the Hollywood fixer worked for a star spotted picking up a transgender woman. Despite doing great work with gay, lesbian and bisexual characters, Donovan is part of what GLAAD identifies as part of a bad trend of depicting transgender people as subjects of mockery and disgust. I’m surprised to see House of Lies in the condemnations, my initial impression was that it had a potentially strong transgender storyline with the son.

The internet was in shock yesterday as reports broke saying that Colton Haynes is leaving Teen Wolf, though producers denied the report. E! adds that the show decided to move on because Haynes' team took took long to respond to an offer for Haynes to stick around for two more seasons.

"School Spirits" on Wednesday, June 20th, at 10 Pm (Et/Pt), and we have a sneak peek look at Episode 1.01, "Sorority House Terror".

Synopsis:

"School Spirits" features chilling ghost stories from schools and universities across the country. Each tale is told through the first-person, eyewitness accounts of the students, alumni, faculty, and historians who experienced the unexplained often terrifying phenomena, along with chilling dramatic reenactments. Executive producers are Seth Jarrett and Julie Insogna of Jarrett Creative Group ("Celebrity Ghost Stories") and Mark Burnett ("The Voice", "Survivor").

The premiere season of "Schools Spirits" consists of six, one-hour episodes to air as follows:

The seemingly endless wait for the Syfy summer schedule is finally over! There is good news and bad, and one thing that is both good and bad. Let’s start with that: the Eureka Season Finale. We love Eureka, so every episode is good news; the fact that it’s a series finale, not so much. Mark your calendars – and have plenty of Kleenex in stock – for July 16 at 9/8c. Right after Comic-Con, which is early this year. We’ll see if that means a panel or not.

The good news: Warehouse 13 and Alphas return on July 23. The hmmm news is that Lost Girl will move to Fridays at 10 on July 20. Hey That’S Haven’S Spot. So Where The Heck Is Haven? Admittedly we had a head’s up that Haven would be pushed to fall when we learned that the DVDs for Season 2 weren’t being released until September but Argh.

TNT is expanding its foothold in the unscripted genre. The cable network gave series orders Friday to reality projects from Blue Bloods' Donnie Wahlberg and the executive producer of Extreme Makeover and The Moment of Truth. The first, Boston Blue (working title), hails from Blue Bloods' Wahlberg and is described as a procedural docudrama following the men and women of the Boston Police Department's Gang Unit. Heading into its upfront presentation next week, TNT has greenlighted two new unscripted series: the police procedural docu-drama Boston Blue, executive produced by Blue Bloods co-star and Boston native Donnie Wahlberg, and competition series 72 Hours, from the executive producer of Extreme Makeover and The Moment Of Truth. TNT has ordered eight episodes of each series to launch next year. Earlier today, reported on the news that Syfy would be adapting Stephen King’s The Eyes of the Dragon. Syfy has officially announced that project as part of their new development slate, which includes 28 new scripted and reality projects:

Syfy is having its Upfront tonight, during which they present their schedule and slate of projects in development to potential advertisers, and the announcements are flowing. An adaptation of a Stephen King novel into a miniseries, a new Charlaine Harris weekly series, a great movie being adapted into a weekly series, and a whole load of new reality shows may be in our future. Where to begin? We’ll break this down into manageable bites, but have included the entire press release below for your study.

First up, new series! We’ve already told you about some of these, but now we’re getting official word. For scripted series, Syfy is now confirming that Defiance, the series that will affect and be affected by the game of the same name, will be coming in 2013.

All other new series on or soon to be on the schedule are unscripted/reality shows – eight of em!

So what's next for the channel that has given us plenty of things that have gone bump in the night along with more CG monsters than anyone could possibly keep up with? Read on for details of Syfy's "upfront" presentation.

Syfy just recently wrapped production on an original movie called Haunted High. News that they’ve ordered up an original docu-series called “School Spirits” about haunted schools makes me wonder if they haven’t turned into the proverbial dog chasing its tail.

You may know super producer Mark Burnett as the man behind “Survivor” and “The Apprentice”. Now, teaming with “Celebrity Ghost Stories” creator Seth Jarrett, Burnett can add “School Spirits”, a new Syfy reality series that goes to schools around the country chronicling the tales of ghosts said to haunt the hallowed halls of academia, to his resume.

Syfy has given the go-ahead for six episodes of “School Spirits”. In each episode, school ghost stories will be told via reenactments and first-person narratives through the testimonials of students, teachers, parents, and staff who claim to have experienced paranormal activity.

The SyFy Channel loved these reality paranormal ghost series. They've got Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International, Paranormal Witness, and a couple others. The network has now added a new series called School Spirits to their line-up.

The show has a six-episode order, and it will "tell true ghost stories of hauntings that have happened at schools across the country. The stories will be told through the testimonials of real students, teachers, parents and staff that have encountered the paranormal activity and cinematic reenactments."

I'm always up for hearing a good ghost story. I watch a lot of the paranormal shows that are on TV right now, it's the only type pof reality TV I find interesting and entertaining. The new series is being developed by executive producers Mark Burnett (Survivor) and Seth Jarrett (Celebrity Ghost Stories).

Today we bring you Part 2 of our San Diego Comic-Con interviews with some of the cast members of "The Secret Circle"; we thought we'd close things out with long-time genre favorite Natasha Henstridge (Species, Ghosts of Mars), who portrays school principal Dawn Chamberlain in the series.

Among a few other things, we discuss her cult status among horror fans, working with co-star Gale Harold, and her character's motivations.

Okay, so there’s a new show on The Bio Channel called Celebrity Close Calls, which tracks celebrities who have had a brush with death. It takes a cue from their other show, Celebrity Ghost Stories (Harry Hamlin has seen ghosts!), but instead of stories of famous people being haunted, it’s stories of them getting hurt, like the time Gary Busey’s motorcycle accident messed up his brain. Weirdest of all, however, is the fact that they profile Yancy Butler (who?) we get to learn about the time Ed Begley, Jr. was attacked by an L.A. gang, which is, like, What??? Obviously, people who live their lives in the public eye are subject to more scrutiny than ordinary folk, but how did that guy — actor and passionate environmental activist — end up victim to gang violence???
