Julia Campanelli is a writer, director, producer, actor, Raindance Screenwriting Fellow, and Producing Director of Shelter Film, a NY indie film company that creates social impact, powerful films for an inclusive world-wide audience. Shelter's inaugural film, 116, written, directed and produced by Julia, has screened in over 50 festivals and received 30 awards, including 10 Best Film and eight Best Director. Julia's screenplay The Paisley Witch Trial (feature and pilot) received 12 Best Screenplay awards including Academy Nicholl Quarterfinalist 2024, Raindance Best Unproduced Screenplay, Francis Ford Coppola's American Zoetrope Finalist, and is Black List recommended. The Paisley Witch Trial, the true, untold story of the last witch hunt in Scotland, grew out of convicted "witch" Margaret Lang's story, and is the subject of Julia's solo stage show, Flame. Other roles include Dementia 13, Kill the Monsters, and the roles of Hecate and Margaret Lang in the OBIE Award-winning show Sleep No More.
