I thought the film was a pretty good example as life as husband, father, and friend. I honestly think the people that weren't fans of the movie are the same ones that don't care how men feel and think they need to not be weak at all.
As a man, I could totally relate to Keaton's character. As much as we try, we still sometimes let down those we love... and we can get brutally punished for it without anyone being concerned for us.
I do think the usage of "soulmate" to refer to his oldest daughter was a horrible line. That's not a positive. It would make most women or counselors an "icky" feeling and imply she's his surrogate spouse... and yet she's happy to hear it? Very awkward.
