I kind of liked this book but there are some flaws to this story. There is a lot packed in 300 pages. We have a Ponzi scheme, family drama and ghosts. We have a trophy wife storyline, which turns into a cook on a ship. There is a hotel on an island where a portion of this tale takes place. Another portion of this story is set in New York. Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin was truly a chilling read. What we get here is a systematic study of mass murder mutually conducted by the Soviet Union and Nazi Germany between 1933 and 1945. Over 14,000,000 civilians (!!!) were murdered by the two regimes in that time period.
