***Here are some questions about the series answered by KMM itself. I hope this helps those just starting with the series.***

I keep getting a lot of the same questions from readers about the Fever series, so I'm going to answer the most frequently asked ones here.

FAQ: How many books are in the Fever series and what is the order?

The Fever series will be five books:

Darkfever
Bloodfever
Faefever
Dreamfever
Shadowfever (not yet released)
FAQ: What is the release date for Shadowfever?

The official release date is December 28, 2010. The sad news is--that's longer than I'd hoped for. The good news is that the book is much longer and we've got a ton of fabulous stuff planned between now and then for you all! The other good news is that the time between Christmas and New Years can be a little slow, which makes it a perfect time for reading!

FAQ: Is the Fever series a romance?

Here is an answer I posted at Amazon when Darkfever was first released:

Dear Readers:
It seems there's been some confusion about my new novel, Darkfever so I thought I'd do a blog to set the record straight.

I love to read. You name it, I read it. I love romance, I love thrillers. I love mysteries, crime, sci-fi, fantasy, well-written biographies, literary fiction and comics. What am I looking for that leads me through so many different genres?

A darn good story. One that makes me feel, one that takes me away somewhere, one that entertains and shows me new and fascinating things along the way-the same things I look for in my own writing.

I also like to know what to expect when I pick up a book. I understand and respect that my readers do, too.

That being said...

When Mac Lane first stormed into my life and began telling me her story I was fascinated...and confused.

I said, "Is this a romance?" And she said, "Hush, I'm talking." And I said "Excuse me, do you know I write single-title romances?" And she said, "Yes, but they're paranormal and they're all connected, aren't they?" And I said, "Well, sort of, but I write in third-person." And she said, "Well you'd better buck up and figure out how to write in first-person because I'm stuck in Dublin, surrounded by vampires, Irish mobsters and death-by-sex-Fae, and I'm supposed to find this stupid book of dark magic and my sister is dead and I want revenge and you have to write me out of this mess."

As I was mentally forming a polite but firm refusal, in no mood to put my sexy and successful Highlanders on hiatus, she snapped, "Don't even think of telling me 'no'. You're the one who put me here. If not for you and your MacKeltars and Adam and Aoibheal none of this would be happening to me. Now fix it!"

That got my attention. I sat back and listened for a while. And I discovered Mac was right. While I'd been busy in Scotland, chronicling the tales of the MacKeltars, I'd not thought to consider the ramifications of their exploits on a grander scale. Not once had I looked to Ireland, to the original settling place of the seductive and dangerous Fae. Not once had I checked on the Unseelie prison to make sure it was still holding its prisoners. Nor had I cast so much as a brief glance at the walls between the Fae and mortal realms, or I would have seen the danger we were in.

I began Darkfever immediately-the first of five MacKayla Lane novels in my new Fever series.

When Mac started talking, I realized I had a story that couldn't possibly be told in a single four or five or even six-hundred page novel. Not in any way that would do justice to the complexity and wonder of the forbidden, shadowy world she was telling me about.

The question I keep hearing is: Is Darkfever a romance?

No. Darkfever as a stand-alone is not a traditional romance novel. There is no happily-ever-after at the end of Book One and, while there is a great deal of sensuality and sexuality, Mac does not fall in love and marry a hero in the first book.

So what is Darkfever?

It's the first installment of a story told over the course of five novels that is a romance, and a fantasy, and a mystery and even part thriller.

Is there sex in my Fever series? Absolutely. Is there romance? Definitely. Does it all happen in the first book? No. It happens when it's time.

I sincerely hope Darkfever makes you feel, and takes you away somewhere. I hope it entertains you, and shows you new and fascinating things along the way.

FAQ: Will we see Darroc again?

Yes! And if you have theories about who (or what) some of the people in the Fever series really are, there are fabulous discussions going on at my message board!

FAQ: Is the Fever series part of your Highlander series?

Yes and no. It's sort of a crossover. There are characters from my Highlander series that also appear in the Fever series (and vice versa may occur) but it would be a mistake to consider them "Highlander" novels.

FAQ: What about the sex? Is there any?

Laughing here. I've heard this question so many times over the past few months that I'm going to answer it as baldly as it's being asked come on, guys, trust me a little! I've heard all sorts of theories about me and this new series: that I'm turning my back on romance (no) that I'm trying to "break out" (no) that I've suddenly gotten puritanical (never.) I'm not turning my back on romance and if I was driven by a desire for commercial success for heaven's sake, given the current market trends wouldn't I have stuffed it with sex? I'll never dis the genre that I love. I haven't changed my style, just my method of delivery. I'm after a bigger, richer, juicier tale here and needed more pages and books to tell it. I know we all like instant gratification but I'm not going to compromise the story I'm telling just to stuff a few sex scenes in where they don't belong. The waiting, in the Fever series, the plot arc, the emotions that develop, the secrets that come out, are what make the culmination of the relationships in these books so much sweeter. Yes, there's sex. Yes there's romance. The five books are already plotted out, with many of the crucial scenes written, and I think it's got the best heat and best sex any of my characters or books have ever had. I didn't call it the Fever series for nothing.

FAQ: Which is your favorite, which do you feel is your best work your Highlander or your Fever series?

I adore Circenn. I love Adam. I will always have a weak spot for Dageus and Drustan, but there is a character in the Fever series that obsesses me more than any of my Highlanders ever did!

☻Nikki☻ C (nikkic1998) Did you know?
Jericho's middle name was Zigor which is the Basque word for Punisher or Punished (and it was represented as a symbol on the US hardback cover of Dreamfever).

I knew his middle name but I don't think I knew it meant Punished. Hmmm

message 21: by Shannon (new)

Shannon C. I thought I read somewhere that KMM confirmed there will be an HEA for this series. Is that correct? Has anyone else seen that?

True Love Forever (trueloveforever) | 329 comments Yes, they are supposed to be read as if there are one big paranormal romance. She said Mac will definately have a HEA.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) | 73 comments Oh, that's good to know!

message 24: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (sarah22) | 10 comments Ya that is really good to know. I am so glad!!!

message 25: by Shannon (new)

Shannon C. OK thanks! I'm def an HEA gal, so it's good to hear that confirmed. I'd hate to read the entire series to have things not work out for her!

There better be a HEA for Mac and Barrons or I will be going nuts!

True Love Forever (trueloveforever) | 329 comments A lot of people complained about this different style of writing compared to the highlanders. They were all stand alone books. This is a series that is like one big stand alone book together if that makes sense and in first person instead of third. We don't find out things until the characters do. It will have a HEA according to KMM. A lot of people complained about the first book, but I loved them all.

Sarah ♥ dog crazy ♥ (mylheage) I hope it's okay if I post this link here. It's a Q&A.
