Lee (kahi) What book/s are you currently reading on your Nook... I've decided to read the Sookie Stackhouse series so am currently reading book 1:

Dead Until Dark (Sookie Stackhouse, #1) by Charlaine Harris

message 4: by Elisa (new)

Elisa (elisatodd) | 23 comments I am reading "The School of Esential Ingredients"
It's about a cooking school and all the people who attend. So far I love all the food descriptions, it makes me want to cook or take a class!!

message 5: by James (last edited Jan 17, 2010 07:52AM) (new)

James | 6 comments I got my nook for Christmas and i can't put it down. The link to google books is absolutely dynamite and i have over 30 books on my nook now to read. The one i am reading now is:
Lincoln in the Telegraph Office Recollections of the United States Military Telegraph Corps during the Civil War by David Homer Bates David Bates

Its a free book through googles B&N interface and it goes well with the physical book i am reading:
A. Lincoln A Biography by Ronald C. White Jr.
Ronald C. White Jr.

There was a comparison about the nook and the kindle in the Washington Post today. Although the author was a little negative about the nook, i find that with time i have really grown to enjoy it. The fact that is reads PDF and ePub formats will make it a winner in the long run. I use it several hours a day and charge it once a week.

message 6: by Amy (new)

Amy | 6 comments Liv, I'm jealous as well....I won't have mine until Feb either.

message 9: by Steven (new)

Steven Taylor (thumbscrews) | 3 comments I just finished [image error] tonight.

Starting on Al Pacino by Lawrence Grobel and The Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle .

I read the Nicomachean Ethics by Aristotle my first semester of junior college. I've been meaning to read it again for some time now.

James: I've read A. Lincoln as well. Such a fascinating man. Reading about his trips by small boat for various errands in his early years really show the kind of upbringing he came from. The relationship (or lack there of) with his father is especially interesting.

message 10: by Vikkie (new)

Vikkie (mombarded) I'm reading Catch A Mate by Gena Showalter - it was cheap from BN.com (less than 3 bucks) and looked funny.

I'm like... 1/4 of the way through - and it's stinkin hilarious. Pretty scandalous, but a fun read for us girls. Gotta love a Chick Flick in book form!

message 11: by David (last edited Jan 27, 2010 08:45AM) (new)

David Tolson (detolson) | 21 comments The first book I "nooked" was Half Broke Horses: A True-Life Novel, then I read Bowie: A Biography. I am currently reading, Last Night in Twisted River: A Novel.

Contrary to many reviews, I am finding "Twisted River" to be a very good read. I think the fact that Irving, a very successful writer, choose a writer as his main character bothers a lot of readers (especially if they dream of being writers).... Most of the "inside humor" requires previous Irving reading so it is not a great stand alone book. He writes in some funny 'cameos' by other writers, Kurt Vonnegut, Salmon Rushdie, etc.

I wonder if I can loan this book?

message 12: by Luis (new)

Luis Escareño I'm reading The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (Millennium, #1) by Stieg Larsson The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo. The beginning drags a bit, but it starts to picks up a little later.

message 13: by Donnajo (new)

Donnajo I've been reading the free samples that I got when I bought it and one book I bought which was a waste of money I thought. And maybe one short story. Haven't really gotten into any of the big books I have yet.

message 22: by Crystal (last edited Aug 14, 2010 10:35PM) (new)

Crystal Sloan (crystal_sloan) I'm actually reading one of the free ebooks from bn, Karen Marie Moning's "Darkfever." Darkfever (Fever, #1) by Karen Marie Moning
Despite the strange cover and the fact that it was free, I am really liking it so far. We'll see how the rest of it goes... lol.

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) The Fever series gets better with every book. Since most people consider book 1 to be the weakest of the books, this means that if you at least find book 1 to be halfway decent, then you're in for a good time with the rest of the series.

message 24: by Crystal (new)

Crystal Sloan (crystal_sloan) Awesome, Thanks! I need a new series to get in to. Hopefully this will be the first book I actually finish on my nook. : )

message 29: by Francine (new)

Francine I'm reading Wicked by Gregory Maguire.

message 30: by Dixie (new)

Dixie (readerofthepack) I am reading Beautiful Lies (Ridley Jones, #1) by Lisa Unger . It was so cheap at $0.79! It is a page turner.

Unfortunately, B&N does not have the second in the series in e-book format. I will have to get it elsewhere.

message 31: by Yvonne (new)

Stacia (the 2010 club) (stacia_r) PA and Dystopian books can be very interesting. I've been on the wait list for Uglies at my library for a very long time now and may have to just break down and buy it.

message 40: by Caroline (new)

Caroline Oh, I love Anne Bishop, Sarah! She's one of my favorites, with a good mix of humor, magic and romance.

I'm finishing up Death Masks (The Dresden Files, #5) by Jim Butcher so that tomorrow morning I can start in on Mockingjay (Hunger Games Series #3) by Suzanne Collins , which I've had pre-ordered for my Nook since it was available. So excited!

message 41: by Eileen (new)

Eileen Can't wait to start Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3) by Suzanne Collins tomorrow!

message 42: by Bree (new)

Bree (simplyparticular) I'm currently reading The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender and Confessions of a Prairie Bitch How I Survived Nellie Oleson and Learned to Love Being Hated by Alison Arngrim

Now that I know that the Hunger Games trilogy is finished, I'll probably read the whole series. (I'm boycotting starting any new incomplete series - one can only do so much Harry Potter and Outlander in one lifetime).
