That's so true! It's from those books that you don't want to think about in public cause you'll just start crying.

For my 2 coppers, I did not expect much, was pleasantly surprised by the opening, had my hopes raised, dashed, and then slammed into the ground, and straight into Hades. Even the ending was somehow spoiled, because I could immediately think of an improvement. I wanted to enjoy the book, honestly, but it projects too much modern sensibility, pulp, fanfiction, wishful thinking and internal incoherence, to be enjoyable to anyone familiar with the classics. The phrases 'Hollywood history' and 'Disney for adults' come to mind, or simply the word misguided.
Anyway, I wrote a review titled "From Hemingway to Harlequin in a few short chapters" where I put in more detail about its shortcomings and errors, though I probably should have just written a better book instead.
