- also her interactions with Laia make me really sad, the way she refuses to touch Laia voluntarily and she clearly thinks she doesn't deserve love, it's heartbreaking but also understandable. poor woman.
- and damn damn damn, i can't believe they all left the city! what will Laia and Cook/her mother do now! things just aren't going well for anyone :(
- plus Livy couldn't even escape the city... and the Commandant is gaining Plebein support... things aren't looking good for Helene either, though i'm glad she finally worked out that Harper loves her. still, now really isn't the time to do anything about it haha, that army sounds mighty big and mighty scary.
- and Elias... poor baby Elias... forced to kill more and turn away from the girl he loves, and we still don't know what the hell he said when he left her to go and rescue Darin! i want to know so bad! i feel like it will be the thing to bring him back to himself now that he has started losing his humanity, like i feel like Laia will say 'what did you say to me' and the Elias we know and love will come back to us. just a hunch! a hopeful hunch, because i want them to be together, and i want Elias to have humanity haha, though i'm glad he has more control over the ghosts now.
- wow, what a set! can't wait to read more and finish this book off, i honestly might finish it in one go if you're happy to do that? whenever you're ready, of course, no rush!

Oh I don't think you saw my comment from the other thread haha! I actually finished the book sorry! I couldn't help it! it was so intense and I had time so I'm like ahh sorry but I needed to know how it ends!
So yes by all means finish it in one go cause you wont want to stop!!!!!

- [ ] OH MY GOSH COOK IS LAIA’S MOTHER!!! Oh my lord! This is too much to decipher!! I don’t believe it, this whole time Cook or Mirra would have known her Laia was. Why didn’t she say anything? This is crazy
- [ ] I can’t believe the Commandant let her live, that she is living with her still
- [ ] I am still not over the fact Mirra killed her husband and child! I know she did it to stop their suffering, but wow. She is definitely mighty strong, but I highly doubt the Commandant would have left Lis live.

- [ ] This is so painful to watch! I am so heartbroken for Elias and Laia, nothing is going right and they are always finding new things about their past that are so painful to watch, it’s such a heartbreaking experience

- [ ] So she is now Cook. Even when she is speaking Sabaa sees her as Cook. She is no longer Mirra but she definitely isn’t an ordinary cook

Yes! So now we know who she was seeing in her visions! It was her mother rocking Lis! It was so heartbreaking to read about what she did to her husband and child. Yeah I know, I am so sad to think she gave up and had to do it

Man I know right! But it does make me wonder what does Darin know about their mother? He obviously has something against her, especially during their last fight, it did seem he was hiding something. She must have been through soo much while with the Commandant. I am surprised how much she resisted

I know! Things are not looking good for them! Hahah soo true! But I am glad Helene is capable of seeing love though. That girl was steel as iron with everything that happened with Elias at the trials

I do question why didn’t Shaeva have Mauth with her? Was it because she was jinn and didn’t need his power?

yeah i don't know, surely Darin knows something, or he wouldn't hate her so much? or maybe he just hates her for leaving them and giving her life to the rebellion, along with the lives of his dad and sister, which is also fair. i guess we'll find out!

well he had just told her that the 'dream' was real and that they would work something out and be together, and Mauth was yanking him back, and then she asked what he said to her when he left to rescue Darin and he started saying it but got cut off when Mauth yanked him back into the Waiting Place! so triggering!!
