Because of the time difference, it's always an approximate for me so there's always a bit of leeway but if you've noted your time down, you'd better stick to it ;p

Space: Name of the Wind
Book read: Without Merit Colleen Hoover
Pages: 384
Rating: 3.5 stars
Review: Different from Hoover's usual fare. It wasn't a bad book by any means but I think there was almost TOO much quirk in this one. I liked that it had a happy ending, I just don't buy the happy ending to be honest. And the former therapist in me is screaming that's not the way this works. It was good, it's just not my favorite Hoover I've ever read.

P: Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2)
Book: Hardcore Twenty-Four by Janet Evanovich
Pages: 320
Date Read: 12/1/17
Rating: ★★★★
Review: I always enjoy Stephanie and Lula's antics in this series. There is at least one car explosion and plenty of laughs in every book. I enjoyed Diesel's appearance in this installment as well. After twenty-four books, the stories are still entertaining and I look forward to the next one. I have no idea how long the author plans to keep this series going, but I will keep reading. The narrator of the audiobook is Lorelei King and she makes the story even better.

Review: A beautiful story in a magical world. It felt like a fairy tale. I love the writing and I was sucked right into the story. The character building is well done. I'm looking forward to read the next book!

Hi Stacie, there's a limit to purchasing property of 1 per round of the board. I believe you are still on the same round after purchasing The Name of the Wind so unfortunately, you do not qualify to reserve.
You may try again for another property after you pass GO :)

Oh I thought I passed go because of orphan train being a space of mine that I hit because I had to travel there from another space. I guess I got confused
Oh I see... I had a look of your thread but it didn't look like you passed Go. I'll have another look, sorry.
Sorry Stacie, I've been looking on my phone and it was hard to tell exactly which round you're on and which square & trying to flick back & forth with your thread & The Board.
Ok. Will take your reservation on Dust. I'll update post #1 when I can actually get on PC.

It's totally okay! I thought I messed something up. I'm still not entirely sure what I'm doing.

P: Crimson Lake
Book: March by Geraldine Brooks
Date finished: 2017.12.02 21:45PST
Rating: ★★★★
Review: This was a very effective novel about the difficulties of sharing yourself completely with another person and how one's own ideals can make it impossible to live not just with other people but almost with one's very self. I did not always like the protagonist, but I understood where he was coming from, and why he had such trouble reconciling his virtuous ambitions with the reality that there are things in this world beyond his control. I have never read Little Women, which this story intersects, but now I'm curious about it, especially whether the father in Alcott's book is an actual, fleshed-out character or more the scaffold of a distant ideal himself. It's also fascinating to me that Geraldine Brooks turned to the journals and biographies of Louisa May Alcott's father and his contemporaries for further inspiration; even as she created a work of fiction, she attempted to ground the work in Alcott's world.

Book: Warriors #5: A Dangerous Path
Date finished: 2017-12-03 11:18:21 UTC
Rating: *****
Review: This was one of the best in this saga, I loved every bit of it! Finally Thunderclan is united again against their many enemies, even if the losses where many and great. Erin Hunter has managed to create a feline universe that is not a mockery of human society but is really credible and moving, packed with action and values of loyalty, courage and love.

P: Orphan Train
Book: The Secret Life of Bees
Date finished: 3 Dec 2017
Rating: ***
I know this was a huge bestseller, but it really wasn't anything special for me. It was so saccharine - it felt as though the whole thing was covered in the honey that acts as some sort of miracle balm for the soul to the characters in the book. I felt that the race element detracted from the story - it didn't add anything other than cliche. I much preferred The Invention of Wings, which did at least have an unusual angle (even though based on a true story).

Purchase complete of Zero at the Bone.
Book: Where the Shadows Lie by Michael Ridpath.
Short review: The book is a police procedural where we follow Magnus Jonson (or Magnús Ragnarsson), a Bostonian police officer that-as an alternative to the witness protection program- is sent to Iceland, the country where he spent the first 12 years of his life, to help the Icelandic police face an increase in crime by showing them how crime is dealt with in Boston. When he reaches Iceland he's included immediately in the investigation of the death of a college professor that drowned in mysterious circumstances while he had been translating sagas is his lake house.
The book is full of interesting details about Iceland, the sagas and how they may have served as an inspiration to Tolkien but it's not a fantasy book and I would recommend it to Tolkien fans only if they want to read a police procedural set in Iceland (and aren't from Iceland...).
Rating: 4 stars. The author seems to have done some serious research. The story is original and has reasonably developed characters (I can't help but think this would have made a great paranormal book) but most of the book is spent following the officer walking around, asking the same questions to the same characters.

Review:
I love Lauren Dane. She writes strong women who don't take BS and amazing family sagas. This installment in the Hurley family series is focused on Tuesday and Ezra. If you like a good slow burn relationship book, then I highly suggest you pick this one up. Dane described the ranch that Ezra runs with his family so well that I'm ready to up and run off to live on a ranch with pigs and goats all named Marshmallow and horses. I definitely suggest anyone that enjoys sexy time books and slow burn romances with humor and big families as the focus to pick this one up!

I have completed The Stone Sky to purchase Mind of My Mind.
This book was a fitting ending to a wonderful trilogy. I think it did a good job of explaining how the world had ended up the way it had. I had tears in my eyes at the ending. I liked the way it explained the second person narration.(not something I had been altogether happy about).
