The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner, #1)

I first discovered this book when one of my friends posted it on Instagram. I thought, 'Hey, I could use something to read', So I bought The Maze Runner the next day.
I finished the book on the same day. It was so difficult to just put Dashner's book down and walk away without thinking about what would happen next. The author's writing style, the way you would connect to the characters immediately. You just couldn't not love it.
Mr. James Dashner, you have officially ruined my life.
I have to admit, at first I thought the language that was used in the 'Glade' was a bit sketchy. Although, a few chapters later I was using the words 'Klunk' and 'Shuckface' throughout my daily routines.
The characters in The Maze Runner were different. Good different. They all had so much personality and that's what made the book unique. I have to admit though, Minho was certainly my favourite, with Newt and Thomas coming a close second and third. Minho, I think, has the most personality out of all the 'Gladers'. His sarcasm, His honesty, his strength and bravery, these are all the things that make up the person who becomes one of Thomas' most faithful and trusted friends.
The thing I loved most about it was the fact that it wasn't a one race, stereotypical book. The Maze Runner is a [dare I say it] 'colourful' book.
Everyone, and I mean EVERYONE who Thomas encounters at the Glade is full of personality. No one is a mindless doorknob, sitting in a corner and not knowing what to do.
Teresa made the book really interesting. I loved the little thing she and Thomas could do in their heads. I really shipped them together! Teresa was a very likeable character and she seemed to get along with enough people. It's understandable why some of the 'Gladers' disliked her though.
The Maze. Oh, the dreaded Maze. While reading the book, we learn that the first group of people who arrived to the 'Glade' have been there for about two years now. What we find out a few chapters after Teresa arrives, would have been completely depressing for the Runners. Knowing that those two years of running around the Maze had been for nothing, really.
I definitely recommend The Maze Runner and the rest of the series for everyone to read. The book is highly readable and, as our Maze Runner producer described, "un-put-downable!". I everyone gives this book a try!!
