Slow, bloated and repetitive
The book was fair at best. It was slow. Extremely repetitive with the use of the words tear/tears/cry/crying. That drove me nuts. And each situation was explained to death.
This is the first book I have ever read by this author and I’m not sure I’ll look for another. I honestly don’t even care much for the surrogate storyline. I can’t personally relate to giving up a baby for any reason. But, I thought it had good reviews so I’d give it try. I guess I need to stick to tropes I know I like.
Overall, throughout the book there was a rather gloomy, depressed atmosphere to it. At about 70% in it picked up and finally got more interesting and the ending somewhat redeemed the book overall. Still, the book is draggy and bloated at best in my opinion. Just not for me. I give it a 2.5 stars
