This is what YA fantasy could be if it had any brain whatsoever and FULLY COMMITTED to a non-Eurocentric world. Very interestingly, the plot is the worst part about this book when usually it's all this genre has going for it.
By chance I read Miller's Circe not long before this; I think she and Onyesonwu could have been friends.
